Catching up on conspiracy theories in Dallas

Aug 23, 2009 21:05

Continuing our gradual tour of Texas we just spent the weekend up in Dallas.  Nice place, great food, really enjoyed staying there.

But something really surprising to come out of the weekend is that I visited the museum at the Texas Book Depository and discovered that apparently it is an accepted fact that in the assassination of JFK there was a second gunman on the grassy knoll.  I didn't know that.  I knew there were conspiracy theories about it but I didn't know it was governmentally accepted.  But yeah, it is.  Two gunmen.  It's official.

Of course the government and conspiracy theorists quickly diverge because according to the official version the second gunman took a shot and missed, but according to the theorists the second gunman fired the fatal shot.  It was interesting, while I toured the museum my husband listened to a conspiracy theorist outside and talk about different versions of the same event.

conspiracy theories, dallas
