This is what I did after helping my kids write animal stories today in school. They're loving this project I've started with them. We're only doing it on Fridays and they look forward to it each week. I love that the teacher I'm working with gives me freedom.
What are they doing? Well, I'm glad I asked. I would love to share a moment from school with you before posting my to do list. Let me start by saying that this year is going ten times better than last year. I haven't really disliked my job as an assistant this year, which is a good thing. The project? Oh right. First, they had to submit to me a statement of what their favorite animal is. Then, we looked up image on google until they found one that they liked. I printed it out and that ended lesson one. Last Friday, I had them work with me to fill out a questionnaire I made regarding their animal. Today, we wrote our stories - 7 sentences (2 before picture, 3 during picture, 2 after picture). Next Thursday (Friday will be a workday), they will type up their stories on the computer. Then, I'll print them out and they will illustrate them the following week. Finally, I hope to laminate the final project and bind it for them. That way, they have their very own book to take home and read. We'll see how the rest of it goes. =)
On to the ever growing to do list.
For tonight:
