I'm glad that Obama is taking measures to stop torture. What an embarrasment that's been for our country. I do however hope that he finds a way to determine which prisoners are a threat to society and I don't believe that those prisoners should be turned loose.

Oh, I don't think for a minute we should just let KSM and the other truly guilty ones go. Just unplug them and keep them away from anyone who matters.

There's a few Al Queada members in the US federal prison system already (some have been there for a number of years), i can't see why Bush needed gitmo for other than as a cover for torture and "Hey look i'm catching terrorists and keeping America safe". Those men should be tried in the US, otherwise it's a mockery of everything the US was founded on. Though you could say that about the Bush years come to think of it.

As for the family planning stuff, forget the abortion side of it for a moment. The most important issue there is the use of condoms and the role that can play in slowing down the spread of HIV in Africa and other places.
My view has always been that people should be given access to all the information in regards to safe sex and abortions, then it's upto individuals to make choices based on what they think is right for them.

I think empirical evidence has shown that your approach is the most effective. However, some do need to put aside religious objections :/
