Snitch update

So....the "Ball" of the snitch takes 2 hours to set up enough to be pulled from the mold.

There's A LOT of extra to be cut off. I took lisa's advise and used both scissors and an exacto knife to cut off the extra "crap".

It worked fairly well...

But the edges are still rough in some spots.

The large chunk that has to be cut off of the top is very hard to get rounded again. I thought of maybe trying to stop filling the mold so much, but on further inspection of another mold I had just filled, the filling tends to settle after a little while and you need the extra to be there in order to allow for that settling. I guess for now the methods I have are ok. I just don't want them to look so rough when it's time to put them up for sale. They are a decent size and we can sell them for a decent amount, but if they quality is off then that will cause the price to drop. Guess i'll just have to work out something new.

On another note.....the bane of my existance is currently held by the stupid resin pieces that I cast 5 hours ago and are currently STILL not set up. I'm wondering if I might of done something wrong...but then again...how complicated can these directions be..."Mix Catalyst package with Resin Package. Mix until color changes then poor into molds."  Not rocket science.

I'm not sure how many of these i'm going to make. I can get 5 Hogwarts and 5 Lighting Bolts out of two batches. It wouldn't be so bad except for the fact that these won't set up very fast. I made these ones to be attached to key chains, necklaces, or bracelets. I've also got a stone mold but i'm not sure how cool that will turn out. I think just putting these on a nice cord and maybe on a key chain will work nicely....as long as they set up soon.

Here's some more pics of the snitches.....
