/Facebook/
Facebook, Bebo, myspace, etc, I don't get.
Livejournal= easy. Simple. THE ONLY ONE OUT OF THE WHOLE LOT I UNDERSTAND.
I just don't get the others.
Its not like I haven't tried- I have, I have accounts on practically all of them now, and almost everyone I know has a profile on at least one of them. So I do too. I sign up, but I don't know why. Whats the point? I *gasp* actually see my friends, and don't know if I want any more that I don't know.
Facebook says 'is a social utility that connects you with the people around you' was I under the wrong impression that that means a mobile phone?
See, with things like LJ, and MSN, I totally understand. I only use LJ as a diary, as no one actually reads it so I can put my thoughts on here, or use it as a rant page or whatever. MSN, I get, 'cause it /is/ the best way to talk to someone, as (unlike the mobile) it is instant, and much harder for you or whoever you're talking to to ignore.
Its so stupid when someone tries to add you as a friend, because you never have a clue who the hell they are!! You could spend ages reading their profile, searching them on google or whatever, just to try to find out if they are trying to stalk you, and you still don't know what they are going on about. It is kinda harsh too, 'cause its either accept or decline when they ask to be your 'friend'. If you don't want to talk to them its like shouting 'DECLINEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!' in there faces, which, admittedly, is amusing, but even so- in the real online life, its not nice.
Why do I accept the invites to these sites? Guilt. Guilt as it was my supposed friends who sent said invite to me in the first place, and if I don't accept, I'd feel guilty and not a good friend. I guess I'm just a soft target. Also, when you do sign up to these things, like on myspace (or myspaz, as I prefer to call it..) you get friend invites my only those people you are trying to avoid. Gah!!
THESE SITES MESS WITH YOUR HEADS.
I have just written a load about how stupid some of them are, onto a similar site. Crazy, no?
Grrr...
