Buddy Takes a Class, Eats Peanut Butter, and Overcomes His Fear of Ceiling Fans.
Buddy had his first day of school Thursday night at the shelter where I adopted him. He paid close attention to the teacher. I found out why--she had been training him before he came home with me. He already knows this week's lesson-SIT. I learned something very useful- peanut butter as a deterrent to his mouthing. A dab of peanut butter to the roof of his mouth keeps him occupied while I brush him or perform other rituals of care. He may actually learn to like being brushed, which will be a good thing, because he's shedding like crazy now.
We're having a heat wave, which inspires both Buddy's shedding and our use of ceiling fans. Buddy reacted with terror to the ceiling fans, fleeing the room and running nervously through the house. I think it was the flickering light on the ceiling that frightened him. I am happy to say he is getting over it, although he still casts the occasional anxious glance upward.
