i installed a doorbell at the front gate. This was the third doorbell i tried. the first two came from local hardware stores. they worked just fine right out of their boxes, but not after they were mounted. i went online, found a better one and ordered it from the manufacturer. it came via Amazon. i took a scrap of wood and painted it with leftover spray paint. The vintage house numbers came from Etsy and the little heart was part of my collection of broken jewelry.
i did this to allow visitors to let me know they were present without having to encounter the vicious beast behind the gate at the bottom of the stairs that lead to my house.
it works pretty well, but occassionally people just stand there wondering what to do while the vicious beast barks his head off. other times, i rush to the door to see who is there, only to find no one.
when i painted the mailbox to match, i left this message--
on the other side of the mailbox, i put the names of the family--
you will know them as unclesocial, auntysocial, felinesocial, caninesocial.
