i drove past the old police station, Parker Center, to see whether demolition had begun. All i saw was a shiny new chain link fence around it. There had been a preservation battle, and a last ditch effort to save the building.
i took some pictures back in 2010. The new police headquarters was operational by then, but there were a few offices left in Parker Center. it was back when my beloved dog Buddy was still alive.
i photographed him in a piece of police station art called "The Eye of the Storm"
it features a bunch of poles. While i was photographing, a family walked by, and the youngest child enjoyed running behind them.
The word "Empathy" was also part of this piece. unfortunately, the police have been known more for brutality than empathy. i don't know what will become of this art when demolition continues and the new office towers are built. i sure would like to have "Empathy" as part of my home decor.
