The First Week

I am happy to report that we survived the first week of school. Phew. It was great, actually. The kids were ready to go back, Bram was ready for them to go back (because how much can you really enjoy being beat up by your older brothers) and I was certainly ready to go back. My house is staying cleaner, there are far fewer dishes, and the boys are happy to see their friends and be engaged in something other than Legos, eating otter pops, and chalking the driveway. Not that they don't love those things--cause they do--but I think they were ready to get back to school. Luckily both boys really enjoy school, so that has been nice. It's been early out this entire week, which is a little annoying, but I think it's probably a good way to work themselves into school instead of just starting full day right away. We still didn't get their rooms completely cleaned out as I would have liked, but I guess that's always an ongoing process. It's amazing how much crap they can accumulate in such a short amount of time. I'm considering just going in there and bulldozing the tops of their dressers, since most of that stuff is junk, but I haven't decided yet. They always want to keep everything, and I'm always completely indifferent to that Star Wars candy wrapper that they've been hoarding. We'll see how desperate I get. I would like to make some progress on it tomorrow.

With the new school year begins my new reign as PTA president. I felt obligated to do this, and also felt like it was my turn, so here we go. We've already done back to school night, provided a caramel apple bar for the teachers on their first day back and cookies on the first day of school, and that's all over so that's something. I enjoy being involved, but it's always a little rough with my two littles. C is fine trapped in her carseat. B likes to run amock and generally cause havoc. Most of the time he's good, but it just always adds a level of chaos and stress to any time I have to go do stuff. So far so good, though. I am cautiously optimistic that we're all going to survive.
