I am about to call the kids' school for a nice long rant. Tonight is 5th grade and kindergarten graduation. My kids are in 5th grade and kindergarten. Did I get any sort of notification about this in the preceding weeks?
HELL NO!!!
How did I find out?
Walking up to the school this morning, chatting with the Impertinent Daughter while the Impossible Son rode piggy back (he's having growing pains in his legs again), I looked up at the cafeteria doors before opening them and LO AND BEHOLD!!! "5th Grade and Kindergarten Graduation tonight! Wednesday, April 4th!! Tell your parents!"
Um... okay. I frowned at the poster. Time? No. Place? Cafeteria? Front of the school? Open field?? I looked at Miss Priss. "You have graduation tonight?"
"I do?" She stared up at me blankly, then looked at the sign. "Oh, I do."
"Did you know about this?"
"Kinda, but... not really." She looked dubious. "Did I mention it?"
"NO!!!"
I looked at Mr. Manzie over my shoulder. "Did you know about this?"
"What's gradeeeooooo-ashun??" he asked, frowning mightily.
"Never mind," I said and took him to class.
I could have dropped in at the office on the way out, but really, guys, I was a bit too riled up. And riled-up Auntie is not a good thing. Besides, 8 am is not a good time to do ANYTHING at that office. I'll wait till nine and give them a call. And a piece of my mind. I'll have calmed down, and thought of some really biting words to say.
CLAWS!!! I GOTS CLAWS!!! AND I KNOWS HOW TO USES THEM!!
*random snarlings, growlings, and shredding sounds*
I swear, this school district is the WORST about notifying parents about ANYTHING!!! Three weeks ago, the principal of the kids' elementary school was put on forced administrative leave for two weeks for "anger management issues." Oh, not with the kids or parents. He is patience itself with kids and parents. No, he took his fury out on the staff, and several teachers abruptly resigned. So, he was put on leave to attend mandatory counseling sessions. How did I find out about this? Well, my daughter's best friend's mom is pals with a guy on the school board. We rode together to the Bob Bullock Museum of Texas History (try saying THAT real fast three times!) when our kids had a field trip there, and my, wasn't that a most informative drive!
I gotta get my kids out of the schools here.
Unhappy much? Yes.
Maybe I should go take a run at the track. Or seven. THEN I'll call the school.
Grrrrrr....
kids,
