The last time I didn't have time enough to list my next year's opera/concert schedule. Here we go:
Already purchased opera tickets:
- Ring cycle (Denschlag, Lipvsek, Salminen, ...)
- Les contes d'Hoffmann (Poblador, I. Raimondi, Merbeth, Sabbatini, Zednik, ....)
- Zauberflöte
- Rigoletto (Bonfadelli, Calleja, ...)
MUSTS still to buy ( For the first time at all you can buy first and second class tickets already from June 1st 2004 for the whole next season. The problem is not just the price, it's also that you don't get any 1st or 2nd class ticket, just those in the Parterre. I wouldn't even pay a forth for such a seat. That's why I still have to try to get tickets for the following performances. And besides the Ring cycle the cycles all included operas I don't want to see.):
- Don Carlos (Pape, Vargas, Skovhus,....)
- Don Carlo (Hvorostovsky,...)
- Fidelio (Meier, Botha, Rydl,...)
- Die tote Stadt (Denoke, Kerl, Skovhus,....)
- Parsifal I (Rattle, Meier, Quathoff, Moser,...)
- Parsifal II (Schneider, Rydl, Struckmann, Kerl,....)
- Parsifal III (THIELEMANN, Meier, Hampson, Domingo,...)
- Don Giovanni (because they play my favorite opera on my birthday!!!!)
- Cosi fan tutte ( Isoskoski, Kirchschlager, Schade, Sramek,...)
- Tristan und Isolde (Polaski, Moser, Holl,....)
- L'Elesir d'amore (Netrebko,....)
- La Boheme (Harteros,...)
- Wozzeck (Polaski, Hawlata,....)
- Der Rosenkavalier (Voigt, Kirchschlager, Hawlata,....)
- Die Zauberflöte (Schade, Poblador,....)
- Tosca (Shicoff, Bruson,...)
- Fliegender Holländer (Botha,...)
- Elektra and L'Italiana just because of the opera itself
Already purchased tickets for the Musikverein:
- Quasthoff; Bach "Hohe Messe"
- Quasthoff; Mozart arias
- Quasthoff, Kirchschlager; Mendelssohn Elias
- Quasthoff, Barenboim; SCHUBERT WINTERREISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- Holl, Liederabend
- von Otter Liederabend
- Bostridge, Liederabend
- Röschmann, Liederabend
- Holzmair, Liederabend (unknown to me yet)
- I. Raimondi, LiederabendHvorostovsky, Liederabend
"Still to buy tickets" as the cycles didn't fit my taste:
- Gergiev and the o. of the Mariinsky-Th.: Nutcracker
- Metha, Lang Lang: Tschaikovsky PC. No. 1, Strauss
- Thielemann: Wagner
- Harnoncourt, Wiener Phil., Schönbergchor, Mei, Fink Schade d'Arcangelo: Verdi Missa da Requiem
- Thielemann: Strauss (Richard for those who have already been visiting Austria. Cause here you usually mean the Strauss Dynastie, not Richard when you just say Strauss)
- Luisi,....: Orff Carmina Burana and Catulli Carmina
- Harnoncourt,....: Messiah
- "The Creation"
- Gheorghiu, Liederabend
For the Konzerthaus I've already bought a ticket for the Jessy Norman recital on Sept. 24th. She hasn't been to Austria for 8 years!!!!!!!!!!!!! And I already have tickets for both recitaly she will give. The other one is in the roman quarry next to Eisenstadt where I live. I haven't had time to check the rest of their concert programm.
I have now decided not to try to get into the chorus "Wiener Singakkademie". I'm 26 and still a student. I have the strong desire to finish my studies, which will be already very hard when you look at this opera/concert schedule. I will reduce my choral activities to the Bergkirchenchor=chorus of the Haydnchurch where Haydn is burried plus our project for the opening of the next Haydn-festival season: "Elijah". I just WANT to finish my studies as soon as possible.
Last Monday I saw the ballet "Spartacus" by Chatschaturjan. Nice music but the choreography wasn't so good. So I decided to see "Der fliegende Holländer" Tuesday. Lucky me, I couldn't see the stage (I've already seen this production in December with the same cast (Salminen, Stemme, Kerl, Grundheber,...) which is great but I didn't want to see the stage any more.
I've decided that I don't want to see the stage for so many productions at all any more. I can save so much money!!!!!
I found out the best place in the Wiener Staatsoper!!!! The best for me. My absolute favorite concerning the accoustics is 2nd rank box 13 left 1st row. The best concerning what you get for your money: Parterre box 3 2nd row No. 4. But I havent't been on the balcony yet. I just know that I don't want to pay Parterre tickets.
