Happy Birthday to Misreall!

We have come to the end of our Top Ten month and we're ending on misreall's birthday with a double list.

My Ten Favorite Possessions

 1. My Cafe Rosa print. (see icon)
It hangs in my kitchen and it is awesome.

2. My pink hurricane lamps
Rescued from my grandmother's basement. No idea how old they are, but they're very pretty. Even more so since marymary gave me a complete set of dangly prisms for them.

3. My crystal turtle
I collect turtles. It's a thing. My mom bought this for me when we were in Sweden for the brother's wedding.

4. My antique candy dish
Christmas gift from misreall. It is delicate and lovely and I live in fear that it will get broken.

5. My glass bookend shaped like a horse
After Aunt Ro died we each got to pick something to keep from her house and this was my choice. I remember loving it like crazy when I was really little.

6. My Stella Artois prints
I stole a little cardboard stand-up thing from a bar and took it apart. One side says, "Deceptively Genteel, Pleasantly Bitter." The other says, "Serving Gentlemen and Rogues Since 1366." Then I spent way too much money framing them and matting them in green and gold velvet. But they are gorgeous hanging in my foyer, so I don't care.

7. My Muggs doll
My dad called me Muggs. And he found most of a doll at a garage sale when I was a baby. It was a little naked plastic thing, minus arms and legs, with a head full of choppy orange hair. But he thought the expression was just like mine. So he bought it. The torso disappeared at some  point (damn, I am just realizing how creepy this is) but he kept the head in his office his whole life. Now it sits near my computer and grins at me all day.

8. My favorite Christmas ornament.
It hung on my childhood Christmas tree (which was Grandma's tree) and I inherited it. And if you think I live in fear of that candy dish breaking, that is nothing compared to the terror at the thought of losing this ornament. Misreall can attest. She witnessed me in tears once just discovering that it HADN'T broken.

9. My Christmas tree topper
I engaged in the fiercest bidding war ever on ebay for it and I WON. Made in Italy, it looks like the love child of a star and a pointsettia.

10. My barstool
It was in my mom's classroom for about twenty years. Now it's in mine.
