A quick one

I have only a few minutes to post before doing some quick lab work (changing a buffer) and going to a hot pot at my co-worker's house. A hot pot is a Chinese dinner party that involves tossing meats and veggies in boiling water, waiting for the food to cook while making polite conversation, and then chowing down, preferably with chopsticks. I saved my appetite.

My boyfriend and I did the Christmas thing at my parent's house this year. Will discuss embarrassing moments in a future post. He bought me two new tires for Christmas, because one of my old ones was about to blow after a run-in with a jagged, deep Cleveland-style pot hole. I'm buying him a trip to Hocking Hills, which includes a room with fireplace and jacuzzi and hiking in the winter wilderness. The perfect kind of gift: one that benefits me too.

His mother bought me a nice sewing machine and related materials, including a pair of shears (they're not scissors, they're shears!) that have the sharpest blade I've ever seen on a pair of...shears. One of my first projects was sewing a book cover for a cook book that I gave to my best friend. It was a disaster, but my friend feigned appreciation. Then I made a fleece hat for my boyfriend which turned out quite nicely. I'm really excited about the prospect of (eventually) moving on to more complex projects. It's a good creative outlet for me.

Ok, back to work!
