WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT?????
edit - on a more coherent note now that I am actually not on my blackberry and actually on a laptop, I definitely have to comment on some aspects of the episode.
1. I thought Neal was a little bit OOC this episode (even if he can't be OOC if this is, you know, the source material). I don't really believe his comment about ~I WANT TO GO LIVE IN SUBURBIA WITH KATE AND A WHITE PICKET FENCE AND 2.5 KIDS~ because my response to that was something along the lines of, WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO KID NEAL, YOU CAN'T CHANGE THAT DRASTICALLY. Because seriously, how fucking mundane and intellectually unstimulating is that life? He'd be bored out of his mind the moment the novelty wore off. Also, letting Alex in & not actually keeping track of the music box at all times? REALLY NEAL? You'd think that he'd have been in this game long enough to learn not to trust anyone--and especially with Alex's blatant distrust of him, you'd think that it'd swing both ways. I was sort of expecting the show to be like ~THAT WAS THE PLAN ALL ALONG~ except then it WASN'T and just blahhh. I know Neal's human and makes mistakes etc etc but that one was just SO OBVIOUS.
2. I feel as if the explosion was a cop out--but then again, I've always been more fascinated by psychological aftermath than big showy climaxes. Also, giant cop-out because it's completely pointless now as to whether or not Kate was really on Neal's side this entire time. Plus, I don't know how much I will be able to take of the inevitable ridiculous amounts of survivor guilt--I REALLY REALLY hope they don't play that up because I already hate Kate a lot and considering they've given us 0 backstory about their relationship and no reason to support it whatsoever, I'm not looking forward to watching Neal mope about her endlessly. I sort of hate that Neal didn't make the choice to go back to Peter himself & that instead it was made for him.
3. On the other hand, I love that we're finally getting into the meat of the overarching story; I'm hoping that it's AMAZING and not lame. The encrypted file is interesting & I want to know why Fowler is so interested in the music box. If it's something along the lines of "BECAUSE IT'S SHINY AND FOWLER LIKES THINGS THAT ARE SHINY HE WANTS TO ADD IT TO HIS SECRET ART COLLECTION~" then fff I give up on this show.
...
No just kidding I would never give up on Matt Bomer's face.
edit 2 just to add: lol cgi.
