It was hard to even concentrate on the Transfiguration text before him. For the first time in his entire life, Ernie cared about doing anything but doing school work. The only thing that kept him coming to classes these days were his friends, and the only thing keeping him coming to his tutoring sessions and study groups was his duty and his students. The session he awaited right now, however, was less burdensome than the rest. It gave him a chance, outside of Prefect duties, to spend time with Linus outside of the suspicious eyes of his other friends ( ... )

"Well, this must certainly be the place to be," came a voice. Linus sauntered in after it, smirk and glance at the ready. He dropped himself into the chair beside Ernie and whirled his wand between his fingers. He fought temptation, and that was to place his feet upon the table. "Its been awhile. Keeping you and your own busy?" Linus inquired casually. It must have been so strange a question- one evoking of paranoia- when it came from one with the "I" on his chest. But Linus had assured Ernie that his commendation would have little effect on how he already conducted himself and his affairs. "If you trust me, then a badge shall make little difference," Linus had said at the time.

"I thought you'd enjoy knowing that your friend Hannah's name has been stricken from the papers for now. My mother is on the Committee." Linus shrugged, placing hands atop his head and weaving his fingers. "Merry Christmas. I wish I could do more, but they will get suspicious."

Ernie looked up at the sound of his friend's voice and managed a smile in his direction. He had gotten used to the second badge on his friend's uniform almost to the point of no longer noticing it. It had bothered him at first, but he understood where Linus came from. They all were doing what they could to survive, him included ( ... )

Linus' opinion of Carrow was one marked with distaste, and though it has never been an assertion shown to her face, Linus had little difficulty showing it in the correct company. "I find her banal at best. She and her brother are everything that has gone wrong with our noble heritage. Lying down with your own kin. Everyone knows of it. One runs out of the ability to politely address someone of their breeding." Cocking his head, Linus mocked with a disgusted lip curl and scoff, "Greetings Alecto. How is your Aunt-Mother these days? Pregnant with your future husband, no doubt. Won't that make Amycus a tad jealous? HA!" Linus rolled his eyes and flexed his arms behind his head to stretch his chest and shoulder blades. "Her enthusiasm for her subject is notable as well. Any who disagree with her is hypocritically labeled as the dog she is. I know not what to do with her, save use her flesh burning hex and hope it sets her alight so I may run from her by her own light ( ... )

Ernie let go of Linus and hoped he hadn't embarassed his friend with the display, but he'd just been so glad to hear some good news for a change. He smiled as Linus simply tried to dismiss what he'd done - Ernie wouldn't forget it anytime soon, and he did vow to repay his friend somehow. He didn't have to, but he wanted to.

"I guess Michael's become one of my best mates of late, especially since Megan and I broke up," he added with a shrug. "You're right, he was sweet on him, but then the bastard played him like a piano and left him with a million pieces to pick up. I know he's your cousin, but that doesn't make him any less of a git bastard who should just sod off and leave Michael alone. Just yesterday they'd paired up in DADA, and you know what the bastard does? He hexes him!" He pouted. "Of course, Michael hexed me too, but that was just a fainting hex, and it's because I was trying to make a point to Carrow. He was afraid she'd hurt me as a result ( ... )

The symbol of Slytherin is a snake, everyone knows that. Linus often wondered just what kind of snake Salazar Slytherin found so appealing as to take it as his sigil. Being a parselmouth never quite explained it. So what was he akin to? Was he a cobra? A python? A boa constrictor, perhaps? Squeezing for every last drop of precious blood? Or was 'snake' just a polite euphemism for the true yearning of power, a dumbed down version of the almighty dragon? Whatever the choice, Linus knew what kind of snake he was. He was a pit viper- an animal who lays low and senses for the heat signatures of its prey. Immensely patient. Highly opportunistic. Linus' sense was more refined still, but tooled differently.

Weakness. Wish. And a need for raw Hedonism. A longing for escape. His eyes flared subtly, mouth opening just barely agape as he sensed prey within Ernie. That he had never suspected. Ha. How interesting. And perverse. The young boy considered, mouth paralleling in a smile as Ernie recounted how much he seemed to ( ... )

Ernie nodded, knowing everything Linus said was true. The hand on his shoulder felt warm and comforting, and it was a rare gesture of affection on Linus' part that Ernie recognized and appreciated. "They'd be the first to agree with you, too. I do have this tendency - just a little one, mind you - of taking on my friends' problems as my own. They'd want me to let go and refresh myself, but, I just feel like I'm letting them down if I do ( ... )

Like... sugar wands and chocolate, Linus determined. It was the taste of Ernie Macmillan. To be sure, pheremones had no particular taste to the untrained. They were simple chemicals which alighted the senses and turned on or off desire. Still, Linus concluded that Ernie was sugar wands and chocolates- a rather unusual combination to be sure. Would he taste as such under the effect of Polyjuice too ( ... )

Contrary to Ernie's line of thinking, history was not repeating itself. History was cyclical, but sometimes it was necessary to move past certain points that no longer required they be learned from. The theory was over- and like Carrow, Linus preferred practicum to lecture. But even then, there was still theory to test here, one that Linus tasted opportunity to apply the available data. Electric blues rested on Ernie, unmoving and unbudging from their position of force ( ... )

Holy bloody fucking hell!!!

Ernie had been rendered into utter and complete speechlessness. His head felt so light, as if he were intoxicated by every word Linus spoke. It was so appealing, the idea of simply forgetting the world for half an hour, to feel something other than pain and fear, but more than any of that, to feel someone's touch again. He had been able to deny it during his waking hours, but his dreams - which once upon a time he had never been able to remember - now reminded him almost nightly of what it felt like to feel lips along his neck, and a hand other than his own stroking him to completion.

But this was Linus, his mate who had shown no interest in him before now, at least none that Ernie could glean from their interactions. The long look that had moved down Ernie's body had left nothing to the imagination in terms of what Linus wanted, and Ernie was quite frankly in shock that he wanted it from him. He couldn't help but feel self-conscious, what with ( ... )

Comparatively, Linus was serene, with a look that bespoke of his calm yet inward delight to what was to come. Above all, to forcing Ernie into this new way of thinking and feeling. When pleading eyes cast to him, fumbling virgin hands upon his tie, Linus gazed on with the determined observation of the patient professor. Fierce but understanding in their denim hues, Linus' eyes returned answers. His own fingers reached out, encircling the Windsor of Ernie's tie. He pulled him up, leveraging the power of his arm to Ernie's frame. "You look nervous. Stop. Enjoy the moment." It was a direct instruction to live in the moment, and the gentle tilt of his head expressed to Ernie that he meant business. "I'll go easy on you ( ... )

(Ernie, posted by Shaun by permission of Jamie.Ernie closed his eyes when Linus told him to enjoy the moment. He breathed in deeply, trying to bring some steadiness to his thoughts, and was comforted by the reassurance that Linus would 'go easy' on him. When he opened his eyes, the strange intensity had lessened in strength, and the predatory snake-like creature seated upon him had transfigured back into his friend, Linus. "I've snogged a bloke once," Ernie admitted, " but nothing more ( ... )

"Michael?" The sound of another's name reverberating in the quiet, secluded classroom could have been disruptive. Both Ernie, Linus' eyes asked their question whilst lips spoke the name. If it weren't clear why it was said, Linus pressed, "Did you snog with Corner?" Came his correction, assuming that there was no other bloke of his persuasion in his life. It was a small school after all, and quickly narrowed by deduction. Linus suspected Theodore's persuasion because he failed to show interest in all but one particular person. That left Michael as the logical candidate, and the name uttered ( ... )

"What?" Ernie was momentarily distracted by the mention of Michael's name. He blinked owlishly up at Linus before blushing furiously. "No, no we never... We're just good friends, is all. I'm not even his type."

Ernie's neck arched instinctively as Linus' fingers continued to play along it. Yes, the scents, the feel of things were changing ever so slightly, so gradually that Ernie had no time to ponder the change. And more flashes of memory... Were the memories prompting the change, or vice-versa? The scent, it had wrapped Ernie in comforting warmth on so many occasions, not the least of which was the day after his heart had been broken, when he had fallen asleep on his friend's shoulder. He gasped at the first touch of wetness upon his skin, the finger trailing down his neck and leaving the trail in its wake ( ... )

Linus encouraged the fireworks to explode in the mind of Ernie. With a simple kiss, Linus intended to plant first a seed of tingling, which grew into the warm sensation almost velvet in nature to such an action- especially when done against a neck. Such fireworks were realized by Linus the moment Ernie became proactive. He pushed his hips absently perhaps into Linus', where the energy centers of two male bodies met. Linus ground back, slithering his pelvis with a dancer's flexibility down and scooping up into Ernie. With it came an entirely a new burst of energy and heat. It accentuated the vulnerability and dominance between them, yet the simple and mutual desire to come together and share pleasure ( ... )
