School shorts
I finished the shorts y'all gave me ideas for the other day.
Pattern is Kwik Sew 3149, quilting cottons from Quilter's Cove and denim from my stash (thanks, Lisa!). Details added: back pockets on three pairs; striped faux pocket insets and facings on the denim; cuffs on the plaid; triple-stitch topstitching on the salamanders; mock fly stitching on all so I can easily find the front!
The striped applique strip on the denim is a little trick I picked up reading the back of a package of quilting notions at the store! The plaid pocket was an excruciating exercise in pattern-matching and patience; too bad I forgot to match the plaid at the seams, LOL. The orange topstitched pocket was the first and how I learned NOT to line the pocket up vertically with the grain. I didn't do anything to the striped pair because I figured it was busy enough already (and I didn't want to match the stripes!).
