ABOUT FOOD... i've been told i should keep a food journal. sigh.
so. yesterday, first day after horrible cabbage soup diet (which was really only horrible the first three days. after that, it sucked, but the degree of horrid went down so much that it was bearable and just in the realm of sucky) I WENT CRAZY. yeah, because see, i really (and i mean really) enjoy food. (and parentheses. ;____; i put them everywhere. can't hold them back. so sorry). Yesterday, however, was also my first day as a vegan. (although, as i'm coming to understand, i think i'm really just a non-ovo-lacto vegetarian. because veganism is really much more hardcore.) I was prepared. i had appropriate food.
In the morning, i warmed up a mug of soy milk (which, as it turns out, i'm not very fond of) and put some cocoa in it. this suddenly made me much more fond of my soy drink. can you believe it? so yummy. then i had a slice of toast with peanut butter on it. dunked in my hot cocoa. it was delicious.
for lunch... well, i had a late lunch because i needed to go buy MORE STUFF. BECAUSE! BECAUSE I HADN'T FOUND TAHINI/TAHINA WHATEVER US AMERICANS CALL IT, ON FRIDAY. (Tahini is a KEY ingredient in hummus. i NEED hummus.) i was getting desperate. I went to the street corner store (which in French are commonly called 'l'Arabe du coin' - literally translated the 'Arab of the corner'... these small stores are usually held by foreigners, who are generally Middle-Eastern. and they have FABULOUS out-of-town exotic food)
So i got tahini, tabasco sauce, margarine, tofu, red beans, and i think that's it.
AND THEN I MADE EPIC HUMMUS.
rosalui says it looked fabulous.
silverwyrm says it looked lumpy. I SAY IT TASTED AWESOME HOMG HOMG HOMG. i spread some on a slice of whole wheat bread, cut the pits out of some dried prunes, and made a sandwich. and it was SO FREAKING GOOD. i look up and notice that this journal is getting out of hand.
ok, gonna shorten this shit up.
since i was still hungry, i had a salad = lettus, red beans, corn, raisins, olives. and then a chocolate soy yogurt. which was really yummy.
FOR DINNER. because i was inspired by my friend Jessie who lives in New York, and whom i had this with when i went to visit:
couscous, sweet potato cut into pieces, taro (which, it turns out, tastes just like potatoes... pfff), red beans, corn, and plenty of smashed garlic. because i really love garlic. Before dinner, though, because i couldn't help it, i had a little mise-en-bouche, a slice of bread with hummus and a piece of toast with margarine. what? i'd been off carbs for 7 days, man. it wasn't easy. GRAPES FOR DESSERT!!!!
and last night, i was introduced to the epicity that is Bleach shinigami fights. I watched several episodes, and
questofdreams had me convinced of the greatness. unfortunately, being such a pussy, i fell asleep before getting to the end of the arc. ;____; MY LOSS. ;___; next time.
now, i should go do homework, maybe. and then have lunch. ooooohhhh, lunch, so exciting.
