Before i get into the story, i must preface it with a little background info and character list. Let's go back about a year-and-a-half to a little dinner party being hosted by our main character, Sue Peterson. Sue is one of those mothers whole feel it necessary to have her finger on the pulse of her daughters' lives. Usually a parent wanting to know what goes on in their child's life is a healthy practice, but she turns it into an unhealthy obsession. Well at the dinner party, some words were exchanged, and i was cast out of the Peterson house, and pariahed from their family. So fast forward about a year, and my mother having a few awkward confrontations with Sue. See Sue and Mom used to be friends, but Sue being the vendictive bowling ball that she is completely ignored Mom during run-ins.
So now we find ourselves on a beautiful sunny weekend afternoon, last Sunday, in Broadway Plaza. Oh and by the way this whole i have yet to speak with Jenna Peterson, one of my good friends at the end of high school. So i am walking out of the Barnes and Noble on the corner of South Main and Olympic with Mom, Dad, and Matthew (my brother). We are about to cross the street towards California Pizza Kitchen when i catch sight of her. Ther she is, Sue Peterson, flanked by Jenna and Emmy. Right as we step into the crosswalk, they all shift positions to the crosswalk on the other side of the street in front of Create and Barrel. We make our way across the street and start walking in their general direction towrads Create and Barrel. And then when we least expect it, Sue turns around and a horrified look washes over her face whitch is quickly replaced by a feeble half-smile capped with a small finger waved towards Mom. Then as fast as it started, it was over. My hand began to tremble with excitement. Awkward moment of this calibur only come along once a life-time. It's moments like this that i live for. The tension was so thick, that time slowed down to a crawl. It was sheer cinematic genius.
So now i am here, three days later, still smiling with joyful excitment. The only thing that i hope to get out of sharing this story with all of you is to get a good laugh as you sit there and read it. Also a side objective is to possibly provoke further confrontation. SO BRING IT ON!!!
