today i was driving around, gathering necessary nonsense for my trip tomorrow. i was backing out of my parking lot at first federal, and a little boy and his family walked by. a little girl skipped beside her towering father, wearing a pink dress and white braided shoes. the man was wearing a striped polo shirt with alternating hues of orange. the little boy sat at ease, elevated seven or eight feet above the ground on this man's broad shoulders. i continued to back up, and tensed the brakes a little to let family by. the boy's big blue eyes fell to the direction of my car. he kept them on lock there. though his father's mountainous shoulders drew him farther and farther away from me, he kept his eyes on my car. this boy was new. he was youthful. he had lucid blonde hair and an outfit that matched his father's. this was a boy, who, given 10 years, would not even look in my general direction. i hate how crude some people are.
anyway. i'm leaving for journalism camp at usc tomorrow. i'll be back sunday, i guess. the whole thing kind of makes my hands sweat and my legs shake, but i'll make it okay.
