Where did the phrase "hear no evil, speak no evil, see no evil" come from? I'm guessing it is at least a western phrase, as I'm sure that the carvings at Pier One are of Asian origin.

though apparently this artist didn't know this particular phrase, and thought that peeking at evil was acceptable:
If they didn't want something ridiculous for this carving (I think it was between $75 and $100), I probably would have bought it... I even considered asking the manager for a discount, since it was obviously a flaw :)
