Just a Quick Question...

Jul 07, 2006 15:47

I had a session the other day, and set up ProTools 7.1 with a Control|24. When we tried to track, the 192 I/O completely cut out, and we could only track 8 instead of 16 - we had to use the 96 I/O. The producer wasn't happy. Does anybody know what happened to the 192 I/O ( Read more... )

I know that ProTools isn't known for crashes, otherwise it couldn't have become the standard that it is.

ha! haha! hahahahahahahaha!

If you weren't a Chobits fan, I would slap you with a wet noodle!!!

Pro Tools is god.. Kinda like the sun... Just more 'electronic', or something....

But yeah, seriously... EVERYTHING crashes at some point or another.... Especially during bouncedown!!!

Pro tools is god? I suppose you also bow down to microsoft windows. Us normal people have a word for people like you. Masochist.

Yes... It is GOD!! It told me so....

Windows=Bad(For music non-stop).... Mac OSX=Good(For music non-stop)!!

But seriously folks.... I dig the hell out of PT!! Never had any serious problems with it. My PC comes nowhere near music stuff... Love Windows for blowing up aliens, though!!!

how long did it take you to get it running so well? do you actually use your mac for anything but protools? how old is the operating system? how much did you spend for it all?

Used Session/Session 8 and PT LE on a PC and had so many frikkin problems it made my head spin.... Moved to Mac 4 years ago for PT LE/Mix/HD Accel and have had minimal issues... Like I said, the occasional problem during bouncedown. And the Mac is only for PT or plug-ins.

me too, im just saying its not right that you have to have a dedicated computer to do nothing other than pro tools just because they cant make goddamn software that plays nice. for fuck's sake, i've had less problems with Audacity than the version of protools i had to pay $70 just to upgrade, and audicity is FREE, and doesnt require i lug around some huge useless interface to use. plus, get this, it doesnt care if I update my system or use the internet!

I hear you. Of course Digidesign is gonna get you where they can. They are a business, after all!! And serious users are willing to sacrifice their firstborn to get updates!!! When I worked in a real
studio, we actually used two Digi001 LE systems w/ ADATs to get 16 tracks(Along with just about every cracked plug-in).... And we did just fine!! Got some serious use out of those things!!

I know most people/casual users don't have the moolah to blow on these kind of things.. I, luckily, have a very good job now(We all know that the music biz just doesn't pay so well, lol!!), so I could afford my HD3 monster with some serious TDM plug-ins, as well as a 192(and I kept my 888/24). Yeah, I blew the money on it, and I don't regret it in the least. I will never let my 'music' computer come near the internet, regardless!! If I need to do something on the net, I do it on my PC and port it over to the Mac via a thumb drive.
