Two weeks ago I returned from such a fantastic weekend in Portland. It was so great to be surrounded by wonderful friends all the time.
While I was there, Morgan called to ask if I'd be interested in applying for an apartment with him and some other people - I said no. Then I talked things over with Matt Fox while I was in Portland, and he said "I think you should do it. Why not?" Then I looked at my bank account and realized I probably could feasibly move out of my parents' house at this point. Finally, I was back in SF and missing having friends around. I realized if I live with a friend, I'll have a friend around all the time So I called Morgan and said I was in for the apartment hunting.
The weekend after I was in Portland we - Morgan, and another girl met through Craigslist, Sarah, and myself - went around looking at a few apartments. That night we submitted three applications. Monday (eight days ago) we learned we got one of those places.
Saturday (three days ago) we signed the lease. Holy shit.
It's not an exciting neighborhood, but it's a nice enough place. Not a bad commute for any of us, and reasonably priced. It's a three bedroom, two level apartment in a 15 unit building. There's a downstairs office we're using as a bedroom - I'm taking that room, for the cheapest rent, and greatest distance between Morgan and myself (to minimize the awkward). Morgan, Sarah, and I are looking for a fourth roommate, which is a pain.
We start moving in next week (a week from tomorrow). Last week I also started my 401(k). All signs seem to point to Claire actually being an adult.
