Summary: Yuri lost his reasons to open new doors after an incident during his last year in the University. After that incident he changed. Ever since then, he lived his life in shadows and distance his self from people. Until an unexpected encounter made him take a step out of his shell once again, but what if stepping out of his shell means facing those people who made him feel worthless? What if stepping out of his shell means acceptance of the things that he already closes his eyes for? and what if stepping out of his shell means falling inlove to a person he didn't expect was once became a part of his past life?

"I don't remember changing my call ringtone to this song. Ahh...right...that guy changed it last night before i go home. He said that he will make a call by 7am. I am not sure if this song has any significance to him or he's secretly a fanboy of this group. But even before the long hand of the clock strikes at 12 and the small hand at 7, i have been awake for already an hour now. And for some unknown reason I feel strange looking at the name on my screen. It's not the bad kind of strange it's more of a heart thumping, stomach flattering and face warming kind of strange."
"Moshi-moshi~"
"H-hello?"
"Ohayou Yuri." Ryosuke greeted him by his name and that made Yuri blush and smile over the line.
"O-ohayou Ryosuke." hearing Yuri's voice put Ryosuke in an instant good mood.
"We're you able to sleep well? How about your breakfast? Don't forget to drink your warm milk and your vitamin C intake. Use warm water when you take your shower and always check your appliances just in case you're going somewhere. And also before I forget- "
"W-what?"
"Straighten your back. Inhale and exhale. Smile. You don't need to get tense when you're talking to me." Ryosuke advised.
Yuri followed everything that Ryosuke advised, "Uhn...hai!."
"Ah...i have to take my breakfast now. This nurse that was assigned to me was a little..stingy. I don't like her." Ryosuke whispered so that the nurse won't hear him saying bad things behind her. Yuri chuckled when he heard him complaining even with little things, he's such a kid. "The result of my x-ray will be out by 9am and if the result shows no complication i will be discharge right away. " he said with confident. "Yuri-" he called out his name.
"Hai?"
"Will you come here?" Ryosuke asked.
There's an interval of silence before Yuri replied, "I'm planning to do so." and he hang up. After that call, Takaki
Woke up and saw Yuri near the window and seems like he's in a deep thought. He eventually get distracted by the presence of his elder brother and moved away from the window.
"You're awake Takaki-niisan."
"Well yes. Seems like you're in a good mood."
Yuri smiled lightly then head towards the kitchen area. He started grabbing ingredients inside the refrigerator when suddenly Takaki interrupt with a serious look on his face.
"Yuri, will you be honest to me."
"Oniisan?"
"Are you and Ryosuke lovers?" Takaki asked.
The little one felt a sudden tension around them but it didn't take long before Yuri respond, "No..." - " Not yet." he answered anxiously. "But- i like him...a lot."
Looking at Takaki seems like he have something inside his mind that he couldn't voice out. He is holding something important that he's afraid to tell.
"Are you going to visit him at the hospital?"
"H-hai. Would you like to come with me?" Yuri asked.
"I-I have work today. Maybe I'll drop by at their apartment when he get discharge. Just tell him not to worry about work." Takaki said before turning his back from Yuri and walk away. Yuri find it strange that his elder brother asked him such thing. Honestly, he felt nervous with the sudden question eventhough Takaki has been very protective over him eversince they were still kids.

Exactly 9am the result was handed to Ryosuke and he is fortunate enough that the result shows no complication even after landing on a hard ground. There's no need to worry anymore and he's excited to get discharge. But before going back to his room he have decided to drop by at room 102. It took him few seconds before entering the room, since he feel like he shouldn't be there anymore. Deep inside there's guilt that was suddenly formed when he heard Sano told the story of his little sister. If he run away now and just ignore the situation, he can't be at peace, not with the fact that the reason behind Sano and his little sister's misfortune was him. He knocked on the door twice and showed his self. Seems like Sano got the result of his tests as well.
"Seems like you got your results as well Sano-san." Ryosuke said.
"Why are you still here? You will discharge now right?" Sano asked but not even bother to look at Ryosuke.
"How'd you know about that?"
"It's all over the hallway. You're a hot topic in this hospital don't you know, do you?" Sano glared.
Ryosuke scratched his head and showed a shy expression, "I.. didn't know... about that." he said. "Sano-san, can you please hear me?" the ichigo lover asked in a serious tone of voice.
Sano tried looking at Ryosuke, but looking at him reminds him of the struggles his little sister gone through during those times that she's still alive. A wound that is still fresh and visible. A memory that seems just yesterday.
"Whoever is that person who made you think that I get into this place so easily, he simply doesn't have any idea who I am. To be told that these achievements and my past achievements were merely luck, that person mustn't have tried fighting for his own dream. I am not perfect and it's not merely luck... I worked hard for this. I got rejected many times and i cried just like anybody else." Ryosuke exclaimed. "I stand strong behind my works and if you want to continue living in misery even after hearing the real thing from me, I don't care anymore. If you want to blame me for the lost of your little sister go on... but if you want to be happy, then try reading my books, try living inside the world your little sister once lived by so that you'll see with your own eyes what she saw and what she felt while reading it. And through that maybe, you'll understand why she never stop fighting."
With all the things he heard Sano cried in silent. Slowly, he tear down that fierce facade begins to soften as if there's a big thorn that was removed from his baggage. Ryosuke bow his head to pay his respect to Sano and leaves the room. The moment he stepped out of the room he meet Yuri, standing outside the room with a reluctant look in his eyes. He heard everything and Yuri felt that thug in his heart when he saw Ryosuke's expression becomes vulnerable infront of him. The mask that he's wearing all this time went off and what is left is a broken man. Yuri encircled Ryosuke in his arms while the elder one cry his heart out.

"This line of work is tough. Lot's of people starts brimming with enthusiasm, but as their stamina gets in the way and the mental fatigue hits, they drop out. However, no matter how tough the session might be, once I have the samples in my hands... It makes me think, "Wow, i can't wait to get started with my new project." Reminds me of how much fun creating books is... " Ryosuke said with enthusiasm in his words, they're sitting at the waiting area where the bills are being paid. While hearing the elder one talk about writing books with so much passion, Yuri understand now that more than writing what Ryosuke really love is cheering people and making them feel special on their way.
A person from the billing area approached Ryosuke and gave him his hospital receipt. "Yamada Ryosuke san, you're bills and Mr. Sano's are all settled. I will immediately tell him that he can be discharge within the day. Thank you and please take care of yourself.
Yuri didn't say anything after knowing that Ryosuke paid for Sano-san's hospital bill. He didn't think of it as something to pay the emotional damaged he committed to Sano-san, it's just that he's guilty for the physical damaged that happened during the event.
"Ryosuke...he wanted to give it back to you." Yuri stretch out his hand.
"My phone... So it was him." Ryosuke could only sigh.
"I told him to give it to you personally but i think he's not ready yet. "I'm sorry." Sano-san said."
"Uhn." Ryosuke nod and wipe off his tears for the nth time. He stand up and flash a bright smile even his eyes is still red from crying. "Yosha!" he exclaimed. "Baa-chan... Let's have a date!" he added.
"H-huh?! d-date? Now?" Yuri began stuttering his words.
"Yes."
"Are you serious? You we're discharged from the hospital just now, you should rest first." Yuri nagged.
"I'm perfectly fine. You don't have to worry, and I just want to treat you something because you didn't leave me all these time." Ryosuke said and he grab Yuri's hand and interlocked their fingers. He even raised it and smile proudly as if he won the jackpot in a sweepstake. "Let's find a good place to eat." and hold Yuri hands gently as they walk out from the hospital premise. Yuri let Ryosuke do what he likes since it's making him happy too.
They went to a coffee shop located at the downtown and they ordered sweets and tea. Yuri enjoyed eating his sweets and Ryosuke enjoyed staring at Yuri while eating. Both of them feel a lot lighter than usual maybe because their presence is not intimidating them. They just let the moment flow freely.
"Yuri, from now on I'm going to take you to nicer places, take you around to eat all sorts of delicious food while watching your face as i remain by your side. I'll make sure that I'll smile a lot and talk all sort of different things." Ryosuke said while the smile in his face never fades. "I will always remember what you said to me last night." the ichigo lover said with a mellow voice and a gentle smile. "Speaking of which i can't sleep last night whenever i think of you I feel this strange feeling inside my chest, seems like the butterflies in my stomach are doing backflips and i couldn't help but to roll in that small hospital bed, but the bed has limited space so i just hugged myself like a small porcupine rolled into a ball..." the old Ryosuke is back from the usual nonstop talking kid.
"Ugh...i think he's back from being normal." Yuri said inside his head.
"Oh... For some reason, i think I'm back from being normal." Ryosuke smiled, for some reason Yuri was a little bit surprised when he heard that. Seems like he can read his mind again. "Yuri..." the older one grab Yuri's hand and gently touch them, the warmth from his hand is sending Yuri a very comforting sensation that he couldn't resist. "I want you to put your trust on me. That no matter what happen you will believe in me. And if you believe...then i will do more for you. I will take care of you, i will protect you and I will love you even more." Ryosuke pledged. Yuri nod with an assurance that he will believe in him.
After enjoying their sweet tooth cravings at the cafe, they went to an antique bookshop where Yuri usually visit when he need new books to read. It's like an underground sanctuary for book lovers since the place isn't too fancy and the ambiance looks like those old palaces with bricks and lamps with a little contemporary concept. After spending like 2 and a half hours in that place which both of them enjoyed they have decided to ride a bus for a round trip. The bus will depart by 4pm and it will go back to that same station by 6pm. Their seats were located at the middle part of the bus, Yuri sit beside the window while Ryosuke is near the middle aisle. And at exactly 4pm, the bus go, on it's journey.
It's mid-autumn season that time, looking back it was late winter season when Ryosuke and Yuri's path crossed. The memory during that time was still fresh inside Yuri's mind. He will never forget how that tank top made a big difference to their lives now. When they think back about it, they just end up laughing with a little hint of embarrassment. No one of them thought that this day would come. Neither of them foresee that one day their vague feelings for each other would come to this point in time and turn things into a reality.
"When did you realized that you have fallen for me?" Yuri asked.
"Woah! Such a straight forward question." Ryosuke's tension rises a bit. " That night, when you first met Ari-chan in the apartment. (Chapter 4) " he answered.
"T-That long?" Yuri was in a big shocked.
" Even before college." he whispered. "How about you when did you realized that you like me? He asked. And that question put Yuri in a hot seat.
"T-that time when you helped me with my story. (chapter 8-9)" Yuri answered with a little hint of embarrassment. Ryosuke smiled lightly and lower his head while trying to hide his red face. He didn't thought that Yuri liked him for that long. He doesn't know what to say, but he could feel his heart pounding really hard. A kind of genuine happiness he never felt before.
After more than an hour talking about random of stuff, Yuri fell asleep. Swaying his head as the bus moves to it's own rhythm. Ryosuke didn't blink while staring at Yuri's sleeping face. He giggled like a kid from time to time looking at every inch of Yuri's baby face. Since the little one looked peaceful he doesn't let any other things to disturb him from his sleep. He gently pull Yuri's head into his shoulder and let him steadily rest while leaning on him. The bus is less than half full by 5:45pm and it' heading it's way back to the origin station. The sun is setting fast and the dry coldness of the season feels like spikes on the skin but even so Ryosuke didn't let the window cover the image of the crimson red sun that is slowly turning into darkness. It feels magical, spending moments like this with the person you love most. The remaining time went by so fast and it's about time to go home.
They we're walking side by side while their fingers we're intertwine with each other. Ryosuke take Yuri home in his apartment and make sure that he'll be fine there. Standing at the front door, Ryosuke's smile won't fade it's like it was pasted there in purpose.
"Thank you for today." Ryosuke said while squeezing Yuri's hand.
"I should be the one thanking you."
"Baa-chan, tomorrow when you wake up and open your curtains I'll be there smiling at you." Ryosuke said as he sway their hands like a kid.
"Uhn." Yuri nodded with a smile while looking at Ryosuke's hands on him. The older one pull away his hand and flash a silly smile as if he still wanted to be with him longer.
"Oyasumi nasai." Ryosuke said.
"Oyasumi nasai." Yuri replied. Then Ryosuke without any warn, hug him and Yuri hug him back. After a few seconds they broke the lovey dovey embrace , Yuri waved at Ryosuke as he flee slowly from his sight. Ryosuke felt like he's the happiest humanoid alive and even though his cheeks starts to feel numb he thinks that the joy that he feels will last him for a long time. So as with Yuri, who's smiling while leaning back at his door.

He giggled like a kid from time to time looking at every inch of Yuri's baby face. Since the little one looked peaceful he doesn't let any other things to disturb him from his sleep. He gently pull Yuri's head into his shoulder and let him steadily rest while leaning on him. The bus is less than half full by 5:45pm and it' heading it's way back to the origin station. The sun is setting fast and the dry coldness of the season feels like spikes on the skin but even so Ryosuke didn't let the window cover the image of the crimson red sun that is slowly turning into darkness. It feels magical, spending moments like this with the person you love most. The remaining time went by so fast and it's about time to go home.
They we're walking side by side while their fingers we're intertwine with each other. Ryosuke take Yuri home in his apartment and make sure that he'll be fine there. Standing at the front door, Ryosuke's smile won't fade it's like it was pasted there in purpose.
"Thank you for today." Ryosuke said while squeezing Yuri's hand.
"I should be the one thanking you."
"Baa-chan, tomorrow when you wake up and open your curtains I'll be there smiling at you." Ryosuke said as he sway their hands like a kid.
"Uhn." Yuri nodded with a smile while looking at Ryosuke's hands on him. The older one pull away his hand and flash a silly smile as if he still wanted to be with him longer.
"Oyasumi nasai." Ryosuke said.
"Oyasumi nasai." Yuri replied. Then Ryosuke without any warn, hug him and Yuri hug him back. After a few seconds they broke the lovey dovey embrace , Yuri waved at Ryosuke as he flee slowly from his sight. Ryosuke felt like he's the happiest humanoid alive and even though his cheeks starts to feel numb he thinks that the joy that he feels will last him for a long time. So as with Yuri, who's smiling while leaning back at his door.

Writing is not an easy thing but I pretty much enjoy it. Even after writing few pieces for the past years, i realized that I am still not confident. I am not a good writer compare to others but to be noticed by you (my beloved readers and co-fangirls) is something that give me the drive to continue. And I am forever grateful.
