So, now that Kitty and Sparkles are gone, I don't have my daily cat fix anymore. I know that I'm going to adopt a cat once I've gotten settled at Mike's, but that's still a couple of months off. Even so, I started looking on the Humane Society's website last night to look at the cats that are available for adoption. I know that I need to adopt a boy cat to make Midna's adjustment better, but I was looking at all the cats anyway. I found this beautiful cat online:
The reason why I decided that I had to meet her was that she was brought to the Humane Society on my birthday. I went this morning and met her. While she is a very pretty kitty, she wasn't all that affectionate, and she apparently really doesn't like other cats. It's all for the best, though, since I can't adopt a cat yet.
After talking with one of the Humane Society staffers, I found out that the best thing for me to do, given Midna's temperament, would be to adopt a male kitten. The kitten would be less of a threat to Midna, and a boy would generally be better than another girl. The staffer told me that while the kittens that were there would most likely not be there still when I was able to actually adopt, I could go sit in a room with a bunch of kittens and play with them.
It was so much fun to be in a room with 7 kittens. If I could have brought one home with me, I would have known which one I wanted. This little tortoise shell kitten climbed onto my lap and started purring like a motorboat. Other kittens crawled on me and rubbed up against me and snuggled up, but this one in particular wouldn't leave my lap. He did seem to have a bit of an identity crisis though. He kept climbing up onto my shoulder and sitting there like a parrot.
So cute! I'm glad I got my kitty fix. I may have to go on a semi-regular basis between now and when I can actually adopt a kitten.
