ERTC Aubri Day 8

Aug 07, 2010 19:48

After waking up at 8am, i made the power drive down to Oberlin. In a fashion that only proves that the oberlin trip was meant to be, the rain stopped, the clouds parted and the sun shown down just as i passed the Oberlin sign on the highway.
as soon as i pulled off the highway, i could feel the warm embrace of the bubble wrap around me. oh the joy!
stopped in at black river first, because it was 11am, and i hadn't eaten since 8pm the night before, and let's be honest: black river cafe pancakes? yeah. the win.
afterwards i wandered to tappan square to lay in the sun and call mooch. he met up with me and took me on a walking tour of all the new stuff. the jazz studies building is absolutely amazing. beautifully built. there are a few design concepts i don't get (parts of the lounge, and the use of wood in places where if they wear away, people will get hurt), but for the most part it's awesome. i stopped in warner, and filled myself with old school inspiration. mooch told me about the new summer theatre festival. it sounds awesome, and i can't wait to hear more about it. we examined the updates to mudd, and he showed me the amazing renovations that have been done to downtown oberlin, AND i played wit kittens.
so, oberlin = AWESOME
then driving as fast as possible to mel in KY, which wasn't nearly as fast as i would have liked it to be.
ohio entertained me with it's amish men in buggies, and amish girls crossing the road with their milk buckets. also, me getting freaked out by small town fire alls blaring their air raid horns. i don't know why it seems poossible, but it always does seem possible that the US would be under attack in the middle of my cross country trip.
got in around 5, and we just hung out cooking dinner and playing with zac till roy got home around 9. then we said "to heck with this chiken! let's get mexican!" so we did. i got a chicken and cheese fajita, and it was yummy :)
and when we got back to the house, i passed out, because the 3 hours of sleep was not enough. uneventful, i know, but that's ok.
