Day 6 started at 7:30am, which if you know me, you know is too early. But I got up, dressed and ready to go all before 8:30. Which was kinda awesome.
After saying my goodbyes to Ray and Chantal, I started the dubious trek home. It was a near uneventful trio, right up until the lying jackass cop pulled me over for speeding WHEN I WASN'T! So contesting that.
Anyway, got to the border taw Cornwall, and just let them know the whole ridiculous situation from he stEt. They sled lots of questions, searched the car, and seemed mighty dubious, but in the end they let me cross. Yay!!!
I took the scenic route home, down the river, and got in around 2. I sat around with daddy, talking about nothing in particular, as we love to do, until I got a call from rena saying to meet her in TI park and come to the island for the night. Which was an easy yes for me!
Let just agree that the drive all hru this area is beautiful, and I had a very charm afternoon, sightseeing with my childhood, and boating on the river. Rena grilled drumsticks for dinner, and the boys were adorable - as young boys are wont to do, when you love teem and they love you.
After dinner we took a dip in the river (after I mustered all my courage to swim in water where I can't see and won't touch the bottom), which was amazingly very warm. It was the perfect way to watch hhe sun set, and end an evening with the boys.
The rest of the night was spent laying around on the couch in our jammies discussing impossibly grown up things, which comes easier and easier each year. It has been perfect and lovely is what I am saying. Cicadas, cricket, the waves on the dock, the moon on the river, chocolate and marshmallow ice cream in my bowl, and Big Thoughts in my head. Yeah. It's good.
Added: I haven't slept in the guest cottage since I was 20. It is strange, being back in this space, with it's endless scary movie possibility, and it's uncompromisingly plush standard of living. If I were to be taken out, I'm glad rainfall showers and pillow top beds would be my last experiences :)
And I'm kind of looking forward to being awoken by the pattering of little feet, and hushed whispers while they try to plan their approach.
