Thoughts on the Final Fantasy Series and Music

I am not actually a gamer. I don't play and all that I ever really do is watch my brother do that. He is the one in the family who is really obsessed about it and one of his most favorite games is Final Fantasy VII. I was able to finish Final Fantasy VIII only because I always tell him to wait for me before he plays the game. I love FFVIII not only because I was able to watch all of it but also because it is a love story. I know most people don't want that but I like the story and the way the relationship developed between Rinoa and Squall.

So despite not playing the game, why do I even mention this topic? Probably because I adore the music composed for the series and how the characters look. Starting with FFVIII's Eyes on Me, I always try to have the theme songs for the game. I suddenly remembered that FFXII had already been released since last March and the theme song is also available so I started looking for it. Along with that, I read a lot of Final Fantasy articles in Wikipedia and despite having no personal experience in playing the game, I am still engrossed with the topic.

The part that really amazed me is that Final Fantasy was supposed to be developed as the last game for Square since they are already on the verge of bankruptcy in 1987. But the game became a success and together with it the music as well. Nobuo Uematsu is really a genius in creating such exquisite background music for the series. His works are great and I love listening to them.

I am not sure if I would be able to watch my brother play Final Fantasy XII when it is released as an English version. I may not be at home anymore to do that but I hope when I get back, he wouldn't mind repeating it for me.
