Why the hell isn't this leading every newscast on my TV?  Instead I'm being told about the Pope's visit to Washington, D.C. -- an event about which I really don't care, save for the fact that it's going to cause traffic problems.  You'd think that world-wide hunger riots would be more important than the number of people expected to receive ( Read more... )

Smoke and mirrors. Whenever fluff leads the way you KNOW something major is actually happening. The worlds economy going belly up is something they will hide at all costs. CNN has covered it a bit but not much better than the "fair and balanced" FOX group. We haven't had a free press in ages....it's all propaganda and magic acts.

I completely agree. And when the press does comment on 'actual' news it is usually far too late. Or just wrong. Or just biased. Usually, all of the above.

The earth is perfectly capable to feed the entire population and billions more. The obstacles mainly come from wrong government policies. Scrap corn-to-fuel subsidies in the US and CAP i.e. common agriculture policy of the EU, open their markets for high-value agriculture goods from the developing countries and watch food prices plummet.
