So. Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart are both much more funny when they have writers. That's all I have to say about that.
In other news, I'm still really really irritated by the whole John Kerry thing. It's not really a big deal, but it was rude. Rude, rude, rude -- and tacky to boot. I realize that it may not look like it, but there is a code

Remus is in Paris, treating himself to dinner and an hour's uninterrupted time with one of Dumbledore's books. The restaurant isn't a fancy one, but the food is both good and filling, probably because it's a hot spot for students from the nearby Sorbonne. The book is old, a slim volume of children's stories that's been in Dumbledore's collection since before the man went to Hogwarts and out of print for very nearly as long; Remus feels honoured that he's been allowed to travel with it.
He puts the book aside in order to better tackle his sandwich, but only manages two bites before a hand swoops down and picks it up. Remus starts to object but his mouth is full, and by the time he manages to swallow, the interloper has already opened the book, and is staring at it with an expression of bibliophiliac lust that Remus is more accustomed to feeling on his own face than seeing on somebody else's. He's just grateful that there are no pictures to move and catch the man's attention.
"Excuse me," he begins. The man looks up guiltily, eyes widening in apology.
"I'm so sorry," he says. "I just -- I couldn't resist." The familiar tones of a native English speaker are a welcome relief to Remus after days of trying to make himself understood in schoolboy French. In combination with the way the man handles the book, all care and obvious affection, it's enough to make Remus feel more kindly inclined towards him. He's obviously a student; the worn jeans and baggy sweater are practically a uniform, as is his badly-cut and overly-long dark hair.
"Where did you get this?" he asks. His hazel eyes, bright with enthusiasm, send a brief pang of sorrow through Remus' chest. "I've never heard any of these stories before."
