It wasn't as if he'd shot the dealer for fun. He'd shot the dealer as a matter of principal. Cheating was standard at places like Hearts, but you didn't cheat and then lie about it after being caught red handed... And John had very much caught him red handed. So, after finally doubling his money at another table, he'd watched and waited for the man ( Read more... )

Gambling with cards and dice doesn't hold much allure for a man who spends every moment of every day gambling with murder and drugs and his own life. Still, the glitter of neon against the harsh gray night catches his attention and Nene otherwise doesn't have any other way to spend his evening.

And he has a hell of a lot of credits to burn. Credits that don't technically belong to him.

He turns the corner, catching sight of two men talking. Or, that's what it looks like until he watches one of them crumple to the ground at the other man's feet. Arching an eyebrow, Nene stays silent, still watching for a moment, waiting. The man on the ground doesn't move and Nene feels no pity for him, only a vague, detached sort of curiosity.

Finally, after another moment, he turns to follow the other gentleman inside.

Nene's not being entirely discreet, so he's not surprised that the man's noticed, but he's still caught somewhat off-guard at the sudden stop, though he adjusts quickly.

"I am only going inside," he replies casually, the words heavily accented as he nods to the open area just before them. "Is this a problem?"

"Could be," John replied, smirking a little to himself as he pressed the button to open the door, and then moved aside to let the other man in first.
