It wasn't as if he'd shot the dealer for fun. He'd shot the dealer as a matter of principal. Cheating was standard at places like Hearts, but you didn't cheat and then lie about it after being caught red handed... And John had very much caught him red handed. So, after finally doubling his money at another table, he'd watched and waited for the man's shift to end, cashing in his chips and following him outside. He hadn't even said a word as he pulled out his gun, he'd simply offered the man a smile and then put a bullet in him.

Then he'd gone back inside, you know, to see if he couldn't triple his money this time. It was snowing outside, though that wasn't uncommon, and John watched it out the window for a moment as he tried to decide if he'd rather drink something or play a little more. It was a hard choice.
