Finally in possession of a name to go with the man who's been pursuing him, Mike seeks out Rave and obtains the Peacekeeper file on Hobbes-- and on the accident a decade ago that cost him his leg and eye. Rave lets slip that she knows Hobbes, giving Mike a very nasty idea; Hobbes comes riding to the rescue, Rave escapes, Mike gets shot but, classically, fails to die.
Later on his shuttle, Mike explores the files obtained from Rave in greater depth and makes a couple of fairly unsettling discoveries. Injured and shaken, he finally gives in to a temptation that he's been fighting for months.
