Winter had rolled into New Tokyo without much flourish. Other than the bitter chill to the wind, everything seemed the same. The tacky lights of down town still blinked, and if you started towards Siam, you'd find the same gray roads and the same red lights blinking you home.

The cold cut right through Zu as she started on her way home, her thick winter coat and furry boots a sharp contrast to her short black skirt and cleavage bearing top. What was a body worth if it wasn't seen though? And lately, Zu needed all the worth she could get out of it. Business was slow and the Scarlett room wasn't eager to take back a thief when there were so many other girls looking for work. There was the chapter house of course, but lately Zu found herself coming up short as she spun the polls. She wasn't smiling enough, wasn't playing the game right.

Winter was never her season.

Her hair blew in her face, and she rubbed at her nose as the cold air chilled it and left her ready to sneeze. Maybe she'd head to the clinic in the morning for a shot. Maybe. Maybe if she could bring herself to sit in that dank and drab waiting room.

She'd been stupid to think she could walk home in this weather. Digging though her bag, she looked to see if she could afford the bus fair home.
