I will ALWAYS vote for more money to schools. Whether you agree or not with the way the money is being spent, that's the fault of the administrators. If schools don't have enough money, everyone will suffer eventually. Keep increasing money to the schools.....and get people in position who know how to spend it.

Which, as noted above, is just a stupid thing to do. Why would anyone bother to learn to spend it properly when people will just keep giving you cash? As buddhafiddle noted, telling APS that they can't just keep getting wheelbarrows of cash is what it took to get them to look at how they spent the money.

You're right. Let's NOT keep increasing money to schools, even though the cost of supplies and books, not to mention the living requirements of teachers, KEEPS increasing. Let's NOT keep increasing money to schools, even though our schools are over-crowded and what little education the students get is worth less and less every year. Let's NOT increase money to schools just as an object lesson to those administrators who don't know how to spend the money. Let's not concern ourselves with getting administrators in place who KNOW how to spend the money (as I stated previously). The kids won't mind. We'll just put them on welfare and put them up in prisons because they didn't get an adequate education and either couldn't get jobs in an increasingly difficult job market, or just flat out turned to crime because it was easier. Damn them for being born and having to go to school anyway! It's just STUPID to keep increasing money to schools, when there's oh so many OTHER things we can be spending our money on, like another giant iron ( ... )

If they're wasting money then they don't actually *need* more money. They have plenty of it. It is just being wasted. Thus, giving them more money to waste is stupid. if you get the right people in place, now you're overspending, thus wasting money. If you don't you're still wasting money. Step 1 is to stop giving the people who waste money more money to waste. Luckily voters three years ago realized this and apparnetly things are better now.

Tell that to the kids in the over-crowded schools here who don't have enough books to go around.

You went to APS, didn't you?

How about we tell them 'Your administrators are wasting the money that is supposed tobe educating you.'

Actually, I DIDN'T go to APS, but I know all about over-crowded schools with not enough money and too few supplies making it to the teachers AND students. I also know about the miserable wages being given to teachers, and how far that goes in a month. I'll agree, as I have said in the past, that we NEED to get administrators into place who know how to spend th money. I've said it twice, and I'll say it a third, fourth, fifth, sixth and SEVENTH. I'll say it as many times as I need to. I'll say it as many times as it takes for people to LISTEN. I'll say it here, I'll say it in public forums, I'll say it at school meetings and I'll say it in the ballot box EVERY time I vote! I will ALSO keep voting for more money to schools every time it comes up because I think it's a moral crime, not to mention social cowardice, to punish children because their administrators don't know how to spend money. Education should be the MOST important thing on EVERY ballot. I'm one of those poor, misguided souls who believe that education should ( ... )

Wookie, if APS has a budget of $1,000,000 and the admins spend $950,000 on hookers and blow, does APS need more money, or better managed money?

Is it punishing the students to tell APS "Hey, you don't need more money, you need to cut down on the hookers and blow"?

Do you think doubling the budget to $2,000,000 will send the message "Hey, you guys really need to be more frugal." or will it send the message "Hey, cool. Hookers and blow are great."

Clearly I'm not getting my point across. I'll make it simple. Fire the sons of bitches who keep wasting the money and bring in people who will spend the money correctly! FIRE THEM! DON'T KEEP THEM AROUND. How hard is that to understand? When i say to get administrators who won't waste money, I MEAN FIRE THE SONS OF BITCHES WHO'RE WASTING MONEY! How hard is that to understand? GET RID OF THEM! IF YOU'RE WASTING MONEY, YOU'RE FUCKING GONE! I'll say it as many ways as I know how until I get my point across, because by ilcylic's comments, I'm clearly NOT getting it across. For this, I blame a faulty educational system that doesn't teach kids reading comprehension. If you waste money on hookers and blow.....YOU'RE FIRED! "Hey, you, with the business degree who cares about education and who knows how to spend money....Want a job?" Bring in the RIGHT people. To do that, you JUST MIGHT have to expend some money in looking. AT NO TIME DID I EVER SAY IT WAS OK TO WASTE MONEY!!!! AND I'M GETTING SICK OF PEOPLE WHO LABOR UNDER THE MISAPPREHENSION THAT ( ... )

Let me rephrase my question, since I was apparently unclear. Do you think that voting to give more money to APS is the same thing as voting to get rid of admins who waste money?

Did you, in fact, go vote yesterday? Was there anything on your ballot that said anything about firing people who waste money? If there is, I'm highly surprised, 'cause there sure as hell wasn't anything about that on mine.

Yeah, OK, clearly I'm taking an unpopular stance here. I'm saying that we have to be doing more, NOT just on a particular election for a bond issue (which I'm pleased to note passed, SINCE I VOTED FOR IT!!!) but whenever the Mayor and city councle elections (since they make some of the decisions on where the money goes), at board of education meetings (were you, in fact, aware that there is a finance board meeting coming up on the 27th? there is if you wanna go get some hookers and blow), and everywhere I can ( ... )
