Characters: ALEX & OPEN Date&Time: July 21/night Setting: out back Summary: star trekkin' across the universe gazing. Rating: BOOBIES, BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE IF YOU CALL NOW... Status: Open
Bobbi had pretty much skated through her first day at the mansion. She had kind of stood back and observed, trying to get a feel for the people here, so far everyone was pretty nice. So far anyways. She'd decided to take a walk around the grounds, kind of map it out to herself so she didn't get lost later.
Seeing as nobody was around she lowered her temperature and started making soft snowballs in her hands, tossing them up above her head, pretty much making it snow around her as she made her way back through the backyard and to the door.
When the first few flakes of snow hit his face from the wind, Alex was sure he was imagining it. When he realized he was no longer alone and saw a girl nearby making the snow, he remembered he was in a world where imagination became real and sat up.
"Neat trick," Alex told her, smiling a bit. "It snowed a lot back where I'm from," he explained.
She startled a bit, not having realized that there was a guy laying on the ground, but she caught herself in time to keep from accidentally loosing control of the snowballs. A blush crept up her face, but she smiled back.
"Uh, thanks. Sorry about the snow, I didn't know anyone was around." She grinned at his words. "Really? That sounds nice!"
"You create ice?" he guessed, wondering if her power gave her any control over water too. It was an interesting concept to him--like how he might be able to absorb Ben's electrical power. Might.
"Don't be sorry," Alex added. "To be honest, I miss it. New York gets snow, but it's nothing like back home."
"Yeah, well that and I can turn my temperature down so far that I can turn into ice, though that has only happened once so far. I'm hoping they can help me learn to do it whenever I need to." She wandered a bit closer and sat down gingerly on the ground not far from him. She held up a hand and slowly frost covered it until she could pack a small snowball.
"I've always lived in New York, but I come from a smaller town, it snows some but with powers like mine, I think I'd like anywhere that snowed more."
She laughed, as he had probably intended. It was nice to be able to joke about her power and not have to worry about being discovered here. "Nice." She shook her head, hair slowly drifting back to blond from the ice color it usually was when she used her powers.
"I'm Bobbi, that's with an i not a y." Sher shrugged "My dad really wanted a boy." She gently took his hand in hers, it was colder than ice, but that should be a given considering she was holding a snowball in her other hand.
"Whoa!" he commented, still startled by the cold. Laughing at himself, he pulled his hand back. "That's impressive. All I do is throw killer lasers." Which was a huge understatement, but he didn't feel like getting into it right now when she had such a neat power that he really was jealous of.
"I bet you're one hell of an ice skater?" he asked.
"Sorry about that, hazards of the trade, I guess?" She rubbed her hand on her jeans and turned the other hand over so that the cold water hit the ground. "Wow, that sounds impressive to me. But I bet it's a lot harder to control than mine, huh?"
She shrugged. "I used to skate a lot, until it was too dangerous for me to go outside anymore. I miss it, though."
"Don't apologize," he told her, waving it off. "It reminds me of home, remember?" And it did. Even if just for a moment, he could imagine he was back home in the Alaskan winter.
At the question about his own power he frowned a bit but nodded. "Yeah, this containment plate Hank made helps, but it's still...well I guess it's something I'll learn."
She smiled. "Alright then. Glad to help in some way." Bobbi leaned back and looked up at the stars for a minute, there were so many of them out here. Even in her small hometown, there was enough lights and stuff to block out most of them during the night.
"That's what most of us are here for, right? To learn how to control our powers?" She turned to look at him. "Containment plate, huh?"
"Yeah," he agreed, before glancing down at the plate when she mentioned it. "It helps me control the direction I output the power. I still can't completely control when the power goes off, but I'm working on it. Oh and the plate lets me know how much energy I've absorbed, so that I know how much I can throw. Hank's kind of a genius."
"Well, that's cool. This Hank guy sounds pretty smart, I don't think I've met him yet. Though that might be because I kind of hid out for most of today." She shook her head and waved a hand in the mansion's direction. "This place is pretty damn intimidating, so far."
"He's the geek that lives in his lab, so you probably won't meet him unless you drop by there," Alex told her, laughing at that--because it was true. Hank didn't leave his lab all that often, even during meals.
"Intimidating, or comforting?" Alex countered. "Here we're among people who understand what it's like to...not be human."
"Oh wow. Guess I'll have to attempt to remember to go down and meet him. He might have some ideas for me to try for helping me with my powers."
"Maybe a bit of both. In my hometown I was the only known mutant, before they found out I always had to hide my powers and stuff, so being in a place where everyone uses theirs so casually is a new thing for me."
"He seems to have ideas for helping everyone," Alex admitted, shrugging.
But at her mention of people using their powers casually, he nodded. "Yeah, it's been weird," Alex agreed. His own power wasn't exactly something he could run around showing off like the others. Not unless he wanted to destroy a few trees, or possibly the mansion.

"I'm Alex," he added, holding his hand out towards her to shake. Alex was curious to see just how cold her hand felt.
