Earthquake
This article broke my heart. Even before I read it, I kept thinking back to the fact that the vast majority of the children who died in the earthquake were only children. That makes it worse, somehow. I can't believe how small and still they are in the pictures, laid out on broken doors and muddy blankets in the rain.
My coworkers and I were joking around about the earthquake just a few days ago. We hadn't thought there was anything more to the tiny 3.9 quake that occurred in eastern Beijing. I even feigned disappointment that for the nth time I lived through an earthquake only to not feel a thing. Everyone promised to throw things at me if there were aftershocks, so I wouldn't miss out.
Horrible.
