Well, that went well

My parents have been to see me today to see the results of mine & my brother's photo session. All a big surprise for them - they had no idea what they were coming up for. They are really pleased, which is great, and the picture they have chosen is a really lovely one of the two of us looking at each other and smiling, cropped into a panoramic format. I've ordered a similar square one and am contemplating another one. It's a black and white of the two of us lying on the floor next to each other, me the right way up and my brother upside down, cropped so that only half of each of our faces are in the frame. We look so similar! I don't know if I can afford it really but it's such a striking image that I might splash out and think about it later.

In other news I went to the late Prom last night, and I think I've discovered the Spanish equivalent of the Pogues! They're a band called Radio Tarifa, and they were just great. Their music is a mix of Spanish and Arabic and just so infectious that I found myself dancing with gay abandon in the arena of the Albert Hall pretty much without a care in the world. The most amazing thing about them is their stage presence though - their lead singer wore shades throughout and strutted about like a cross between Mick Jagger and a toreador, and they had a guy playing the electric oud who was wearing leather trousers, a black military jacket and a Lawrence of Arabia-esque turban. And he had extremely long, wavy brown hair. I have added their latest album to my Amazon wish list :)

Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend. And thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers for Deborah the other day. It really means a lot.
