Still with the random

Having a busy week at work this week, so I am afraid that the only space I have left in my brain for LJ is full of the random. Forgive me - normal service will probably be resumed shortly. But for now, your random collection of thoughts for the day are as follows:

* Have slightly changed the way that I walk to work this week to come up a new set of steps on the other side of London Bridge. There is a notice next to them that I hadn't bothered to read until this morning. Turns out that they are the only remains of the original London Bridge and the spot where Nancy was murdered by Bill Sykes in Oliver Twist. I love this city sometimes :)

* Am considering having my navel pierced. Anyone already got one? Views one way or the other?

* I deeply love Dido and Aeneas. The notes are deceptively simple but it has such a lot to teach about tuning and why singing is not the same as playing the piano. It makes me see notes in the same way as toffee - stretchy and flexible depending upon what key you are in and what's going on in the ensemble. It's really good fun :)

* Violet has started stealing my clothing. Two days ago she ran off with a pair of my tights and hid them under the spare bed. Today I caught her trying to make off with one of my strappy vests that was drying on the airer in my bedroom. I must be the only cat owner in England who worries about her cats stealing her knickers.

* I have been invited to record a CD with the choir that I sang Messiah with in Belfast last Christmas. Am very excited about it!

And, that's about it. The sun is shining here. I am busy but happy, which is all good. Have lovely, lovely days y'all.
