I need an easy friend, I do...

We went to the Doulos today. We were waiting in the queue for abour 30 mins :S In that time, I had some prime examples of how selfish some people can be. Firstly, the admission fee is 15c (about 37c american) which, let's face it, is not going to make you bankrupt. So a bunch od people behind us were complaining that they had to dig out 15c each to get on the boat. I didn't have to pay, because I'm a "child". lol.

In the bookstore itself, there were LOADS of people. So it was quite hard to manouver.

Because of the stupid GRTU, the Doulos wasn't given a permit to SELL books, so they said that we could take up to 600 units (LM4.80) worth of books without paying, but we are asked for a donation. So this mother with her daughter in front of us took LM12 worth of books. She thought that you could have 600 units off per person, but it's per adult. Kids don't get the 600 off. So she was trying to pay only LM5 of the LM12. I, personally, think that that's disgusting. Yes, they said you can have some books free, but they NEED that money to be able to continue maintaining the ship. And the books are already reduced a heck of a lot in price.

My mum and I took LM5.60 worth of books each, LM7 of which I paid for. She paid LM5. we didn't ask for change. It was only 40c anyways, but at least I know that we paid for what we took, and hopefully helped them out a bit with our 40c donation ;)

On the quayside there was a whole bunch of books for college/university, so Deb got a whole bunch, and I got one chemistry and one algebra book. I'm just finishing O-levels and already buying school books again! *shudder* Anyways, I had to pay another LM2 there, because all the books were LM1 each, so I spent LM9 in all and have no money left.

Oh yeah, and at first, my sis and i took 6 books, which came to LM6, but we didn't have a 5 and a 1, so I gave them a 5 of mum's and a 2 of mine, and mum started shouting at me for giving them an extra pound. I got TOLD OFF for being nice and giving them a little extra. I don't get it. But then deb got another book, so it was already paid for. But sheesh, I usually get told how selfish I am, and today I'm told off for being too nice? HUH?

Oh well. Even though I@m now broke, I'm happy, as I finally have a book on Pilates (which I've been wanting for ages), and the next 2 books in the Left Behind Kids series, and 2 very good text books for a very low price... although I'm just going to shove them to the bottom of my bookcase until October =)

Mum, after going on about wanting to lose weight, bought a book on different ways to cook potatoes (the best food you can eat to lose weight, eh?) and then we each had a brownie in the café =S The brownie was GOOD, but also muchly fattening =( I must try harder to stop eating crapy fatty things!

Now I'm shattered, and I haven't touched french culture. Bleh. And I have no idea whether we're going to the Mongolian on Tuesday, or if I'll even have enough money to go. I probably won't, but I'll work something out I guess.
