Day 49, morning, Elizabeth's office; Attn. Rodney, Elizabeth [f]
Straightening his shoulders and pushing forward his chest, Rodney headed towards the gate room. For a brief moment he had seriously considered ignoring Elizabeth's invitation. After all, he was the head of sciences and pretty busy. They'd suffered from so many losses he had no idea how to get repairs done.
Of course, Elizabeth was no scientist, well, no real, hard scientist. Rodney didn't doubt that she was intelligent. But, mind you, she was a woman, she'd studied politics and some other chit-chatty topic and as far as he was concerned, she was in no place to tell him how to do his work. He respected her authority, and he wouldn't mutiny just because she was a woman. As long as she let him handle his business and not try to interfere with his field of expertise he was quite willing to follow her orders.
Because, honestly. In fact it was him who was the boss here. He was the genius. And Elizabeth relied on his knowledge. She might be the one given the authority by the Stargate command, but without his brilliant mind to fix everything she was nothing. Of course, there was Sheppard, too. Rodney wasn't stupid. He knew that even though he was the mastermind, he'd be lost without the military here. He didn't like the thought, especially after the way Sheppard acted before he left the staff meeting.
At least Carson hadn't brought up the topic the night before, Rodney thought and couldn't help smiling, the thought of his lover warming his insides. He had Carson after all, and Carson wouldn't give him shit like that. He had to suppress a sigh as he recalled the feeling of warm, naked skin against his and tender kisses they shared in the aftermath.
So, what was Elizabeth going to do? Fire him? Send him back home? A smug grin on his face he entered the gate room and climbed the stairs to Elizabeth's office. Most likely she would give him one of these slightly annoyed and trying to stay patient looks. He'd hand her the list she required of him and he'd be out of the office within less than a minute.
