[day 46] evening, Athosian quarters - adoption ceremony, attn: Everyone! [f]
The feast was ready for the ceremony and everyone was excited. Many of the Lanteans had already begun to join them, coming into the Athosian quarters in ones and twos. The air was scented with tuttle root soup, with the rich scent of the meat that Traan had brought back this afternoon, and the warm odor of incense and spices. Drums were playing softly in the background and he could hear quiet flutes as well in the flickering of firelight. It was almost like being home again.
With a smile, Halling greeted each person as they arrived. Many he already knew, but there were those whose names he had not yet learned. He hoped that they would partake in the adoption ceremony tonight. So many faces were lined with grief and anxiety this night and he hoped that becoming part of the Athosian family would ease some of the pain and loss they so obviously felt.
He was pleased that Doctor Weir was already in attendance. The leader of the Lanteans blessing this joining was surely a good sign for the relationship between their peoples. So much to do -- Halling closed his eyes and breathed deeply, savoring the anticipation before the ceremonies.
