Random Musical like musing

So I have been listening to the radio lately in the car again. The local alternative station finally got a clue and has been playing some rather decent tunes since they got Lex and Terry as their morning show. Still could be better but it is an improvement and therefor I won't complain too much. What struck me as odd though was the new single by Hinder.

Any who listen to the pop/alternative stations would know this song. "Lips of an Angel" is like Hinder's big hit right now. I have heard this song probably 15 to 20 times a day for the last few weeks and today I really heard the song for the first time. This is where I will lose everyone but music majors and maybe a few of my DJ friends. You can listen to a song 1000 times before you actually hear the song. Today I heard the song and you know what? I thought modern day power ballad from the 80s. Seriously that's what I thought. That it would have been an awsome power ballad and it was the modern day equivelant to the 80's power ballad. This is in no way a put down to the song, I love this song. I like a lot of the old power ballads from the 80's too. It seems lately that a lot of new groups are experimenting with a sound that is dangerously close to being like that of the 80s and I guess I should expect to hear more of the old 80s sound mixed in with the newer stuff i mean after all who would have thunk in 85 that in 2006 you'd be able to buy a Seaseme Street Shirt in an adult size with the Count on it at Wal-mart? All we had back then were the kid tees at Kmart.

Lately the radio isn't the only things that I have been "hearing". I bought the new Evenesence CD and "heard" it as well and was quite taken aback. While they still sound like they did on the first album, every song sounded like it should have been on another artists album. In fact the first time I had listened to Call me when your sober I thought it was a song being done by Pink.

I can hear the music again and it makes me happy and calm.
