handstands in Madison Sq. Park

This morning I woke up to Nancy digging in the closet. It was still early and even though I was perfectly awake I decided to venture into my dreams once more. I was in a plane and it went straight for the ground. I survived to watch other planes all around us diving toward the earth. Then there was a music video and swing dancing in the streets.

Today was pretty lovely. I woke up and had two spoonfuls of rice pudding, some watermelon and cantaloupe, and I drank a cup of orange juice on my way to the train. On the way to the city I read some of The Little Prince [I got it in the mail yesterday]

I went to class and aftewards met up with Joe, Jen, and Kaitlin. We were starving so we went to some pasta pizzeria place on 23rd and ate our brains out. I had "fresh mozzarell?" [Jen said it with an accent].. it was mostly tomatoes with thick patches of cheese. It was nice.

After that we got tired and decided to take a nap in Madison Square Park. [we had class in three hours and nothing better to do.][that is a lie.. because I have tons of "better" things to do.. like look for a job and such.][but on days like this a job hardly seems a matter of great consequence]

We found the lawn and sat ourselves in the sun. We took of our shoes and I took off my shirt and we laid there for a while, close together, with our eyes closed. I remembered my copy of The Little Prince and mentioned I had it. The girls got very excited and we started sharing our favorite parts. Joe loved that we were so excited. Then I took out the book and I read it out loud as everyone closed their eyes. [they would open them every once and while to look at the illustrations that are pretty important in the book] Jen and Joe were in and out of sleep. Kaitlin kept her eyes open, far away. We talked about the sheep, the rose, the snake, and the fox.

Finally, we could relax no more and hand-stands were in order. I didn't know hand-stands were something to be proud about, really.. but it seems it's not as easy as I think. I coached the others in their hand-stand techniques until Joe finally got in a good one. Jen was doing great as well.. though, after one of her stands she followed through in what was suppose to be a front hand spring.. But she just landed flat on her back and started laughing in wonderful pain. I picked her up only to drop her again and we all rolled in the grass laughing. I looked up to see an old man on a park bench in the distance, chuckling at our attempts. [this sounds so queer.. hand stands and naps and reading in the park. but I love it and I'll kill you.]

On our way out of the park we passed the dog section.. they have a gated yard just so dogs can run around and be crazy with each other. Even though we don't own any dogs we went into the gates and sat on one of the benches and waited for the dogs to come to us one by one. This really made me feel good. All these dogs are just like little kids.. they have their own personalities and it's so ... great.

There was the biggest Rotweiler there and he had a brick. I bet I would have such a hard time picking this brick up but this dog was pawing at it and pushing it with his nose all over the place. And every time another dog would come to see what he's having so much fun about, he would lay untop of the brick and show his teeth and let them know it was his.. all his!

Later his owner, accompanied by his "little brother" [1/10th his size], took him away from his brick. The dog cried because he loved his brick, and now it would be out in the open for all the other dogs to take! Little by little all the dogs took a sniff at this brick only to be confused. They didn't seem to understand why the dog loved it so much.. they sniffed it and cocked their heads then trotted off.

Also, this Rotweiler lifted its leg up in the middle of the yard to pee and right as he was doing so another dog, white as snow, walked right into the stream of the canine's golden shower. It was wonderfully gross. And there was a dog there that was ugly [looking like the one that smiled at me a while back] it was like a pig and it was the happiest dog to see us and jumped on our laps. [I could go on describing every dog, but I think you would have to see them instead, to understand how giddy they make you feel.]

We had our fill of dogs and grass and took off toward the school again. We had class in an hour and most of us had to pee so bad we felt it with every step. I went to Joe's and the girls went to their dorms. Joe busted out his guitar and I feared the worst.. but he had some nice jazz tunes that fit perfectly into the day.

Then class, then train, then computer and now sleep.
Walking home from school, I told the other three that today was a livejournal day.
And they all agreed.
