Heroes Batch 1: All Petrelli, All the Time
Heroes seems to have a pretty thriving fandom for a show only half a season old. I suspect there are all sort of subfandoms out there, but the one I am currently occupying is the Petrelli corner. Zahra/hackthis is one of my favorite fic writers, discovered back when I mostly read Harry Potter fic (my introduction to fanfic). She long ago moved on to more... unusual fandoms, such as Heroes. Her Nathan obsession has strongly affected my view of the show. Perhaps I will expand to other types of Heroes fics eventually... but not quite yet.
Here are five Petrelli fics, each by a different author.
Ducks in the Bathtub by Zahra/hackthis. Very pre-series, very gen, and ridiculously adorable. How could 6-year-old Peter and his reluctantly adoring older brother not be adorable? Like cold fizzy soda and delicate cotton candy in the sun, with a core of deep warm honey. I also really like her angsty fics and her Petrellicest, but this may be the most charming and unusual of the Heroes fics she's written so far.
Phenomenology of a Christmas Sweater by Lenore/scribblinlenore. Nathan/Peter, PG, (incest warning). The yearning in this fic is just lovely, and the premise really works. Sweet and wistful, with an undercurrent of angst.
Sweet Little Lies by Lin/linaerys, PG, gen. A rather darker take on Peter than usual, quite brief at ~600 words but equally apt.
The Terminal Velocity of Spit by sparky77. R, Nathan, Peter/George Clooney. An excellent Nathan POV full of jealousy and angst and good dialogue. Made of awesome.
When He Sings by mandysbitch. NC-17, Peter/Nathan (incest warning). There's a vicious angstiness about this fic and makes it both extremely intense and disturbingly hot.
Of these writers, hackthis has definitely been the most prolific, Petrelli-wise. scribblinlenore and linaerys have both produced one or two others, while sparky77 and mandysbitch haven't yet. I can only hope that they all continue to write Petrelli fic, as I feel quite bereft between episodes without it.
