The VGT Omnivore's Hundred
1. Venison (Though I don't have a strong memory of this.)
2. Nettle tea (I'd like to try this!)
3. Huevos rancheros (I live in San Diego.)
4. Steak tartare (I'm not sure I've had American-style
Steak tartare, but I've had
kitfo...)
5. Crocodile (I'd like to try this, too!)
6. Black pudding (Well, I've had duck's blood "tofu," which is sort of a Chinese version.)
7. Cheese fondue (Yum.)
8. Carp (I think.)
9. Borscht
10. Baba ghanoush (Yum!)
11. Calamari (Mmm, tentacles.)
12. Pho (I have eaten kind of ridiculous amounts of pho in my life, in large part thanks to Nicollet Avenue in Minneapolis.)
13. PB&J sandwich (Comfort food.)
14. Aloo gobi (Delicious.)
15. Hot dog from a street cart (A guilty pleasure.)
16. Epoisses (Ooh, I really want to try this, now.)
17. Black truffle (Something to save up for.)
18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes (Bonny Doon Framboise, best served in a dark chocolate cup.)
19. Steamed pork buns (Oh, so many. One of the perks of being an ABC.)
20. Pistachio ice cream (One of my favorite kinds of ice cream, both the standard green kind and more natural kinds like Toscanini's.)
21. Heirloom tomatoes (I ate my first heirloom tomatoes at Icarus, in Boston's South End, during my first Restaurant Week. Still the best Tuna Nicoise I've ever had.)
22. Fresh wild berries (In both Minnesota and the Bay Area. Weirdly, not in Boston, at least not that I can remember.)
23. Foie gras (Seared is best.)
24. Rice and beans (Love.)
25. Brawn, or head cheese (I am a little afraid of this, but if placed in front of my I'd probably try a bit.)
26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper (Probably only because I've never sought out the opportunity.
27. Dulce de leche (Mmmmmmmm.)
28. Oysters
29. Baklava
30. Bagna cauda (I totally need to try this.)
31. Wasabi peas
32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl (At Renfest, I believe.)
33. Salted lassi (Not my favorite kind of lassi, but I've tried it.)
34. Sauerkraut
35. Root beer float (I love these.)
36. Cognac with a fat cigar (I think I've had cognac, but I'm not sure I'll ever smoke a cigar.)
37. Clotted cream tea (I love love love love love high tea with clotted cream. Love!)
38. Vodka jelly/Jell-O
39. Gumbo
40. Oxtail
41. Curried goat (I think!)
42. Whole insects (I stared them down in China, but I haven't taken the plunge yet.)
43. Phaal (I really need to try this.)
44. Goat’s milk (Why haven't I tried this? Strange.)
45. Malt whisky from a bottle worth £60/$120 or more (Unless someone's served it to me without me knowing, which is totally possible.)
46. Fugu
47. Chicken tikka masala (Yum!)
48. Eel (Unagi! ♥)
49. Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut (I sang 5-part harmony to Krispy Kreme employees before eating my very first Krispy Kreme.)
50. Sea urchin (I just can't bring myself to actually eat it. Maybe someday.)
51. Prickly pear (Mmmm, nopales.)
52. Umeboshi (Not my favorite thing, but I've eaten them.)
53. Abalone (Both raw and cooked, I believe.)
54. Paneer (Lots of Indian food on this list.)
55. McDonald’s Big Mac Meal (Not my favorite McD's item, but I'm sure I've had it.)
56. Spaetzle (I love spaetzle.)
57. Dirty gin martini (I should probably try this.)
58. Beer above 8% ABV (Probably not?)
59. Poutine (Well, I've dipped french fries in gravy, but I haven't had it served Canadian-style with cheese curds. I have to fix this, because I'm pretty sure I'll love it.)
60. Carob chips (Unfortunately.)
61. S’mores (A camping favorite.)
62. Sweetbreads (Unless I have. Sometimes I lose track of what random stuff I've eaten just because it was set in front of me.)
63. Kaolin (In fast food milkshakes, but the FAQ indicates that eating it as a food additive counts.)
64. Currywurst (I've never even heard of this! I want to try it now.)
65. Durian (Also unfortunately. If fresh-baked delicate pastry from one of the best seafood restaurants I've ever been to (it was in Guangzhou and I think we had four different kinds of shrimp, all of which started out the evening swimming in tanks) can't convince me to like durian, I don't know that anything ever will.)
66. Frogs’ legs (I think.)
67. Beignets, churros, elephant ears or funnel cake (Er. Yes, I've eaten all of these things. And they're all quite different and all very worth eating!)
68. Haggis
69. Fried plantain (Yum.)
70. Chitterlings, or andouillette (I've had andouille, but not andouillette, as far as I can remember.)

73. Louche absinthe (Something to try!)
74. Gjetost, or brunost (Unfortunately. I like most cheese, but Gjetost is just not for me.)
75. Roadkill (At least not that I know of. I could totally see someone accidentally hitting a deer with their car and then serving the venison, particularly around where I grew up, but I don't know think anyone's served such a thing to me.)
76. Baijiu (This stuff is amazing.)
77. Hostess Fruit Pie
78. Snail
79. Lapsang souchong (It's possible I've tried this without really realizing, though when I read the descriptions it seems like I would remember. In any case, I should really fix this.)
80. Bellini (I love these.)
81. Tom yum
82. Eggs Benedict (Quite possibly my favorite breakfast dish.)
83. Pocky (In some crazy number of flavors, natch.)
84. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant. (Mrph. I want to do this so much. Maybe someday I'll get reservations at The French Laundry. I think closest I've gotten currently is either Gary Danko in SF (one star) or Jean Georges in Shanghai (the Manhattan one is a 3-star). Sadly, I don't think I can really afford Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas during my coming trip, even if I could get reservations.)
85. Kobe beef
86. Hare (I've had rabbit, but I'm not sure I've actually had hare.)
87. Goulash (Yum. I really need to get back to Budapest one of these days.)
88. Flowers (I like flower-flavored things, candied flowers, and
Spread.)
89. Horse
90. Criollo chocolate (I am not 100% sure about this, as I wasn't aware of criollo before reading this list. However, I've eaten plenty of single-origin South and Central American chocolates, and one of my very favorite chocolatiers (
Chuao Chocolatier) uses all Venezuelan cacao, and the original family farm that they owned was criollo, so it seems extremely likely.)
91. Spam (Made in my home state!)
92. Soft shell crab (I think.)
93. Rose harissa (I might've had this, but I'm not sure.)
94. Catfish (Mostly from Redbones in Davis Square, Somerville, MA.)
95. Mole poblano (Yum!)
96. Bagel and lox (I love this so much.)
97. Lobster Thermidor (I think I've had Lobster Newbury, a related dish, but not this one.)
98. Polenta (When made crispy, polenta can be delicious.)
99. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee (This and Kona are probably my favorites.)
100. Snake (Delicious and rather entertaining. Unsurprisingly, I had this in Guangzhou.)
Being Chinese, having lived in California, growing up in the US, and liking Indian food all really helped. I'm mildly embarrassed by the number of things I wasn't quite sure of, but not everything makes a huge impression on me. I apparently have 68 things bolded -- less than 1/3 of the list to go! A little over a third if you count the handful of things I should probably make a point of eating again just to be totally sure. Whee!
