a quick political note

So. I have my political beliefs, but after 2000 and 2004, for my own sanity I've been trying to avoid thinking too closely about the elections. oh oh oh, that video, I cried. between that, and the stories about people of all races and generations supporting Obama, and *changing*, I just -- I cannot remember feeling so *hopeful* about this country.

oh god, this is what hope and the future and America can still look like. *incoherence* *nerves*

so nervous about prop 8. I donated. All I could do. :X

I know! The funny thing is how much it hurts, to realize how little hope I had before, and how even in the hope I have so many doubts.

Me too. Thank you so much for donating. I can't even really express how much it's going to upset me if it passes.

Though now what I'm really scared about is that Prop 4 might pass because we've all been so preoccupied with Prop 8. Parental consent for abortion is perhaps the anti-abortion measure that gets me the most worked up. It's like people can't conceive of the idea that just because they're good parents (or think they are, but whatever), it doesn't mean all parents are good, and measures like that just discriminate against the people who are already at disadvantage. Grrr.

*hugs* We can be nervous and hopeful together.
