(no subject)

Well, I'm a leetle bit tired right now, but feeling accomplished. I hid out the whole week at home because we were having a mini-course on Iranian this week, and the visitor who was giving it was hosted in the graduate student office space. I didn't feel like going, and I had no good excuse, so I just lay low so I wouldn't make it painfully obvious by running into him all the time that I wasn't going. I ended up getting almost no work done this week.

A few days of inactivity approaching boredom may have been exactly what I needed to get me to turn this chapter into an article. I'm about halfway through, maybe, and I'm just about to hit the part that's really original to me. I'm hoping, though, it won't need as much reworking, just a bunch of deleting of philological detail, and some insertion of sign-posts so that it's less meandering through the data (as Bruce said at our meeting a week ago).

So I did a bunch of that today, along with a bunch of laundry (which is a big deal due to the lack of washer or dryer), and I baked bread, and I went into campus and did some research and picked up some books for my project with Andy, and I ate out, and picked up some new tea towels and sweaters, and it's only 7:00 and I have the rest of the evening to relax. Which will probably involve some trip-planning.

I am learning how to bake bread out of a box. When I master that, I will move on to mixing the ingredients myself, which, for plain white bread, should not be hard. Though I'm really liking this mix of Hawaiian sweet bread and don't know if my cooking skills will be up to that.
