Last Friday I went with
nodiskette to watch I Love You, Man. I’ll admit we went to see the movie because we both love Paul Rudd. Even though he has been in many other random movies, I will always love him as Josh in Clueless. I thought this movie would be bad, but I was more than happy to be proven wrong.
The movie was a delightful Bro-mantic comedy. I laughed throughout the whole movie. I think I laughed so much that I couldn’t even hear half of the jokes. Rudd was perfect as the socially awkward leading man who didn’t have any guy friends. He executed every awkward comment so naturally that it felt real, and basically his own reactions to his lameness reflects what you were thinking when you groaned in embarrassment for his character.
I also love Jason Segal back when he was in Freaks and Geeks and I love him in How I Met Your Mother. He is quite funny in this movie too being the “manly” friend. Both Rudd and Segal play off each other very well, which makes the execution of the awkward jokes great.
My favorite part in the movie was when Rudd’s character, Peter, gets so drunk that after he part ways with Jason Segal’s character, Sydney, he is waddling back and forth in the weirdest and cutest way possible while saying something like, “I can’t remember how to call a cab” as he stares at his iPhone. My other favorite scene was when he was trying on his tuxedo and Sydney tells him to strike a James Bond pose. It just was too adorkable. There are so many other moments that are just hilarious though I could have done without the vomit.
So if you’re looking for a fun movie to see, I definitely recommend I Love You, Man. Now I have an urge to watch Clueless.
