People don't seem to think very hard about what they're saying. Honestly. Humans.
No, it is not important that there be 'debate' about that farce creationism. This is not a right I'm going to be worried about protecting. Suck it.

One thing that does bother me though, is people whining about basing votes on one issue, such as abortion and hoing on how it's stupid to vote for someone just because they want abortion to be illegal and ignore the rest of their policies. Personally, if someone wanted to make abortion illegal, I would not vote for them, ever, no matter their other polities, into which I would not inquire. Ditto gay marriage. I will not vote for someone ever who wants to deny people their rights based on some pathetic prejudice. So I guess we're equally bigoted.
