"Five Seasons" HotelWhile not necessarily the lap of luxury, the Five Seasons is the most comfortable and immediately affordable place for new arrivals to stay until they can get themselves settled. Some are even allowed to pay a monthly rent and stay in the hotel as their primary home.

Toreador MotelA shady motel for shady dealings, the Toreador is a place filled with questionable stains and the sort of people you wouldn't want to run into in the middle of the night.
Other (Worth noting that Canada likes mixed-use zoning, and therefore you can live in a loft above a shop if apartment/house life doesn't suit you.)

City HallEver since the influx of new people began some years ago, City Hall has had its hands full with trying to deal with paperwork, immigration and registry. After several unsuccessful months, they gave up trying to monitor and instead decided to help the arrivals. They've paired people with loans in tandem with the
bank and quite often set up residences in some of the many unoccupied houses in the area. (See, the residents of Aternaville have either understandably left or decided to simply accept the fact that their homely town was strange and dangerous.)
Generally, City Hall is quite lax with their politics, the only requirement being that minors (under 17) be looked after by a resident of town, or one will be provided for them (NPC).
LibraryThe Aternaville library is a small, quiet place, with not so many books but a wonderful atmosphere. The provided computer terminals allow newer, computerless residents with a chance to get online and interact with the rest of the town.
Presently,
Toshiko Sato works in the Library as the technology coordinator.
The Church and
CemeteryThough Aternaville's larger population does not seem heavily inclined toward religion, the presence of a church still seems very necessary. It is a small but cozy place, fitting for a Sunday service.
The cemetery is a different place altogether, small and overgrown. You may often find
Nobody Owens fading in and out around its premises.
Fire StationIt's a fire station.
No really,
Adam Carter works for the emergency services, driving a somewhat comical
ambulance outfitted with
everything you might imagine necessary (and a few things you wouldn't.)
The MarinaThe marina opens out into a large bay on the shore of Lake Erie. Sailboats available for rent.
The AirfieldWhy a small town like Aternaville has an airfield is anyone's guess, but it seems necessary, housing Vipers, airships, and other large flying vessels.
Kaylee Frye holds a job in the hangar doing repair work on the various ships.
Clinic/HospitalThough the amount of doctors in town (medical or otherwise) had always been somewhat unreliable, you can always count on someone to be at the clinic, ready to tend to your worried and your wounded.
The rounded building in the back is partially a learning center/lecture hall for medical students.
Aternaville UniversityThe local institute of higher education is a smallish university. No one's really sure how the credit transfer works or even what is taught, but it's honestly the best you can do without driving to Toronto. Among the named teachers are
Felix Gaeta (biology & genetics).
The RavinePossibly one of the largest sources of mystical activity in Aternaville is the
deep ravine slightly north of town. All the expertise in town has attempted (and failed) to find out exactly what this thing does, and why it causes the strange earthquakes, the song curses, and other general oddness.
~
Downtown AV Sweet Lady Jane BakeryThis lovely bakery is truly the warmest part of Aternaville, providing the residents with an endless supply of sugary pies, cakes, and general cavities. You won't be disappointed by the service, the saccharine uniforms or the perpetually nervous smile of
Clarice Ferguson, who works part-time.
Teaspoon (Cafe)If Aternaville had a literal heart, it would be the cafe, with no doubt. The cafe provides the town with all the caffeine it can handle and then some.
Bookshop CasanovaThe Bookshop Casanova has a fairly small, unique selection of books. It's no Borders or Barnes & Noble, but it has a pleasant, homey atmosphere perpetuated by the level-headed
Moira Byrne.
The Comic Book ShoppeAs with the rest of the stores in Aternaville, The Comic Book Shoppe is small but comfortable, with just enough of a selection to keep you entertained. Occasionally, comic book authors will stop by and do small signings. For the sake of curious irony,
Castiel holds a job in the store and waxes philosophic on the oddities of human nature.
AraA wonderful karaoke club where one can feel free to sing and dance without the threat of danger. Run by the demon Lorne (NPC), who reads your aura by listening to you sing, Ara provides for excellent entertainment, above-average drinks, and company that can't be missed.
Lulu Spencer has taken it upon herself to gather the anonymous
secrets left around town and tacking them to a bulletin board inside the club.
The Jazz FactoryYour typical smoky atmosphere with smooth music and a singer that, when he looks at you, it feels like you're the only person in the world.
@ 11It goes up to eleven. No, really! "@ 11" is the most popular cocktail bar in town because it provides just the right amount of class with the perfect amount of alcohol. And oh yes -- that olive on the frilly toothpick is a wonderful touch.
DiveFar from the posh atmosphere of the Jazz Factory, the cultured cool of Ara, or even the casual sentiment of "@ 11," Dive seeks to create no sugarcoated assumptions about its aim. Which is -- get you as drunk as possible as fast as possible as cheap as possible. While actual barfights are rare, this is no place to bring the kids. Except of course for Sid. Who works there.
Count D's Pet shopUpon the arrival of
Count D, Aternaville's pet shop has become decidedly stranger. D, along with his somewhat unlikely assistants,
Lily Potter and
River Tam, runs a shop where the animals are not quite what they seem. Young children (and people of altered mindset like River) see the animals in the store not as animals, but as people (i.e. a kennel of puppies, you'd see as a pen of babies.) In addition, each of these animals has some kind of special ability that isn't quite what you'd expect, but you have to ask D about that.
The Star TheatreOne of the most charming parts of Aternaville is the quaint little movie theater in the East part of town, along Dayvan. Only a small portion of the building is seen above street level -- the majority of it is underground. It is separated into two wings: the North wing plays today's greatest blockbusters, while the South wing is dedicated to all the best movies of yesterday. Come by if you have a hankering for Avatar or Casablanca.

Comment here telling me where your character lives and I'll update the map accordingly! Also feel free to give me pictures of your characters' "houses."
This map is very flexible, so if you'd like any other stores, say the word and I'll add them to the fray. If you want your character living in a specific part of town, no problem! I'll create a little red box for them too. ^^ Also comment on apartment arrangements if you'd like them changed or moved.
